Good Luck. Better figure out what to do with all the hood rats, dirt bags, tenants, dregs, etc. No matter what you do, you will just be putting on a fresh coat of paint to let these people peal it all back off. A few years from now it will all look as it does now. Give a kid a bike he tears it up. Make him earn the bike and he takes care of it. Once again, good luck. We will see when they dump these neighborhoods all out again.

Sure, just like when the city gave homes taken from citizens for delinquent taxes, ect. to united northwest association(UNWA) who in turn sold the homes to owners of peashake houses. It's called money laundering. The neighborhood associations in these areas are poor, unethical and full of the 'approved' crooked people, such as Al Polin and Clara Warner. Don't turn over anything to them.

HUD's leadership is incompetent and crooked as well.

For years they had a Chief legal counsel who gave most of the agencies legal work to his family owned law firm and then billed for work he did as an hourly private attorney PLUS drew his paycheck from the agency.

This went on for YEARS under the current leadership!

Buy Myers is related to the 7th Congressional District Candiate Woody Myers. We need to make sure he is clean--I doubt it though.

This is stupid policy at best. How about fixing these roads that cause thousands of dollars in damage to cars and lost time in wages. Fix it, Mayor Stupid!

When I moved to the Indianapolis area I specifically looked for a home outside of the IPS district. Looks like I was not the only one.

Stupid policy at best? Simply, if you're not a part of the solution...you're still part of the problem. Buy into one of these neighborhoods, catch the city bus into town, out of town whichever way YOU might have work so that YOUR car is one less trashing the roads.

Anytime someone calls another "stupid", it's because you really don't have anything intelligent to say or add. Forrest Gump called you out! "Stupid is as stupid does."

This a good plan. I see this Mayor is a man of action. Mr Mayor, Help INDYGO/Metro Get a plan to get people to the outer parts of the marion County and include a route that mirrors I-465 in some fashion.

It sure would be great if we could have a community forum on this issue. The vacant homes are a blight to those who own and rent homes in these areas and can't be dealt with by the private market alone. The more publicity the Mayor can draw to this issue, the better.

Bulldoze the houses down. Handing them over to "certified neighborhood groups" just adds to the problem. My instincts tell me these groups would be just be of a part of the scam.
What do these neighborhood groups know about fixing up a house. There could be mold, electrical, carpentry, masonry and other issues.
A vacant lot is preferable to more scams. A vacant lot is a future opportunity, when the time is right.

Swamp Land Builders wrote:
The only reason that Indianapolis has fallen in the foreclosure rankings is that slimebag builders like CP Morgan, Beazer, KB Homes, Arbor, Westport Homes and Beazer have not been selling many homes.
All of these homes you have mentioned are all glorified apartments. The mortgages will outlast the contruction and quality of these types of homes.

What a joke of a product that is allowed to be built.

These builders and people who sell these pieces of shi* should be ashamed.

Is this news...the administration is going to develop a plan? Ballard promised during the campaign to shorten the time it takes to take possession and remedy abandoned homes. So, he had no plan, just campaign rhetoric? And there is already a position in DMD that focuses only on abandoned housing. I don't get it?

This is exactly what should be done...Get rid of the run down empty houses that have become a haven for criminals. When those sores are gone then the area can start to recover.

HUD is a culture of corruption, by definition. The honest workers with good intentions are at a serious disadvantage. HUD's functions are important, but it needs a major roto-rooting. I don't know about Myers specifically, but the Secretary, Alphonso Jackson, may be the biggest crook in HUD's history, the Chicago regional office and Indy field office are both screwed up bigtime, field director John Hall in particular. So yeah, it would follow that the local housing office may also be problematic. Oh, and to top it all off, the HUD Office of Inspector General is dysfunctional. Which is nothing new.

You're an idiot. And you're in company with a flock of other idiots above. If only you morons wouldn't breed, we'd all be better off.
