Purdue was about right. IU got hit hard for no good reason, they should have been a 6 also. Mich. St. a five??? Oklahoma as a 5 is pure bull shitt. They where not even ranked and lost 11 games!!!! As usual the Big 12, just like football, is wayyyyyy over rated. They get into bowl games and get flamed and then in the NCAA b-ball tourney. Butler got ripped plain and simple! Your ranked in the top 15 all year and get a 7 seed. Then you have to play some pisss ant school on their home turf!!!! That just is not right or moral. Something should be done about that. I don't know what but something.

VA tech finished 4th in the ACC behind UNC,duke, and clemson. Not really sure thats a bottom feeder
Now indiana playing a pathetic GA tech team at home might qualify as a bottom feeder
Did Butler defeat any teams that made this year's tournament? How many teams did Butler even play that made this year's tournament besides Drake.

Butler screwed themselves by losing to Drake at Hinkle. Drake got a #5 seed while Butler got a #7. That would have been reversed had Butler taken care of business on national TV at home.

Whoa... just as bad? IU played UConn, Xavier and Kentucky. All three of those teams are tournament teams. Purdue played ONE tournament teams in the non-conference and that was Clemson as part of the ACC/Big Ten challenge. Top to bottom, left to write. I know Purdue's an engineering school but I expect their fans to be able to read a table.
Left to "write". You failed IU, the LibArt/spelling/word usage school. Feel sorry IU, for you, not so much.

Eric Gordon is not overrated one bit. he is a GREAT player
Which part of EJ's game should we be impressed with? The ability to dribble directly into a double team and get the ball stripped on a consistant basis or the ability to chuck up 16 24-foot jump shots a game and hit 3 of them?

Eh...what's the use? After the PSU game I predicted IU would have two games left and I'm half way to being correct. I wish they were playing on Thursday so we could get the inevitable out of the way and move on.

I have to agree with an earlier poster who felt the bracket felt like it was created for made-for-TV matchups. Why did they even list the game as USC vs. Kansas State? OJ Mayo vs. Michael Beasley is what they wanted to call it.

I hope the seeding puts a chip squarely on Butler's shoulders they carry with them through the tournament. The selection committee basically told them they were not even a top 25 team.

I hate to admit it, but what was not so long ago the best sports event in the nation is starting to feel a bit over engineered. We need more Valpos, Santa Claras, Weber States, and Princetons and fewer big conference schools with barely above .500 records who don't earn a slot via winning their conference title.

As an IU alum, I am infuriated at the Hoosiers seed and disappointed for Butler. You can't convince me that a team that was in the top 15 for most of the season is now not one of the top 24 teams in America. It doesn't make any sense. If the polls don't mean anything (and clearly they don't), then we should get rid of them. How Purdue is two full seeds higher than IU after playing a lax non-conference schedule, losing to IU in their only meeting and going out of the Big Ten Tournament at exactly the same point as IU is mind-blowing.

Patrick, you are partially right, Butler definitely got screwed. However, you got to be kidding about IU. You call Purdue's non conference patsies. Did you even see IU's schedule? IU should be a 12 at least. Not that it matters. A good SEC team like Arkansas should have no problem with IU unless they shoot 20% or less. Purdue a 6 is high. They should be about a 8. Butler should have gotten a 4 at the highest. I do feel that they can handle AL State and Tennessee though. KY proved TN is very beatable last weekend. Just control the clock and guard Lofton and that takes away the game from the free wheeling Vols. Notre Dame got a good draw and if they play their best could get to the 3rd round. As I have stated before only Wisconsin from the Big Ten has a chance for the 3rd round, and that is a long shot. GO DAWGS>

Good point. You technically correct: Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech and Florida State did not make the big dance but are still quality wins. Take a look at who these teams beat this this. Let me give you a few: Texas A&M, Texas, Kansas St, Gonzaga, Purdue, Michigan State, Clemson, Miami (FL).

Let's try this. 29 WINS...3 LOSSES. 3 LOSSES by a total of around 10 points. The most ROAD WINS in the country. 21 out of last 23 games = WIN.

For all of this Butler gets #7 seed vs. South Alabama who gets to play a home game??????

What the NCAA Tournament committee was thinking was beyond me. Okay give Butler a #6 seed or a #7 seed but against a non-home team. The "genius" from the selection committee said it was about teams "..that won games." Did he see the 29 W's on Butler's record or was his head somewhere else. At the end of the day, it is about winning games and to go far you have to win several tough games so why not start with a tough game to start out with.

As you said, the polls and the RPI don't mean anything because they have a foundation based on subjective data. Purdue fell to a 6-seed because I think our young guys hit the wall. IU fell to an 8 because they haven't played as a team for a number of games. Purdue won on the road against some good teams and IU didn't which is why I think they wound up 6 & 8.

Depressing thought: IU got in trouble for the first time in 40 years and the end result is an 8 seed. Unlike NY governor Spitzer, Coach Sampson screwed the team, the school, the alumni—and HE got paid.

Spirit lifting thought: Poor Dan’s not going to be back so we get a redo on finding a quality coach that can lift IU to national contender status once again. Here’s to four years of hard recruiting and team growth--the right way. Here’s to a school that graduates players, competes, and wins titles. Look out, we're coming (2012)!

As I look closer here are the teams in the 4,5,6 that ended up above Butler. ND,Washington St.,OK, Clemson,Vandy, USC, Mich. St.,Pitt, Marquette,Drake, U Conn., Purdue. That's a pretty tough group to crack. But, Oklahoma is the one that really stands out as what the F where they thinking! They where not even ranked! Drake is the other that stands out and maybe Marquette and MSU shouldn't be above Butler either. So take those fur out and Butler in my book was at least a 5.

The bracket is always built to favor UNC. As usual, they play at home throughout. How does that always happen? Go get em' IU! No question, Butler deserved a better seed! Wow, especially after winning out! They have a rough road. Three of the four Indiana teams all ending up in the same Regional is another stink bomb! You'll never, ever see UNC and Duke in the same Regional. The South (Memphis #1) is the easiest. Purdue should fair well over there in the West.

What's up with a #7 seed for Butler? What does this team have to do to get some respect? They only lose 3 games, they beat all kinds of non-conf opponents ... I hope they make it to round 2 and show Tennessee what they're made of ...
I also was shocked at Butler's 7 seed. I thought they might be a 5. I guess they looked at their schedule of teams played in the Horizon league. Not saying its fair, just trying to figure out the committee's thinking.
