Carson: I have terminal lung cancer
U.S. Rep. Julia Carson revealed she has terminal lung cancer in a statement Saturday in which she expressed her "eternal gratitude" to family, friends and her constituents.

If She needs a lung I have two healthy ones I volunteer to donate one!! Anything I can do to help Julia Carson, I will do. She is a great person.

I feel sorry for her and her family.
But she is still an embarrasment to this state. She should just retire now. |

As a fairly liberal person, I tended to agree with her politics. However, even I admit that she really should've retired a few years ago when her health started causing so many missed votes.
On a personal level, I wish her and her family the best of luck with her fight. |

I know what Julia is going through. From June to October of this year I watched as my mother lost her battle with lung cancer. May God bless Julia and comfort her in the journey.
To those who will post sickening and inhumane comments in this thread, like a few already have, their judgement day will come. |

Even tho I don't know her. May god bless her and her family. And I hope the best for her in her fight. She is going to need a lot of support from her friends and god above. I lost one of my grandmothers from cancer and I know what Ms. Carson will be going through. Cancer is a bad thing to have and I hope that you are able to beat this off and be able to get back to your life. May god bless you Julia.

I, being of the opposite political spectrum, do not wish her ill will, but wish for a speedy recovery. However, I do believe that at this point she needs to step down and let someone else take the reigns. This would only be fair for the people she represents.
Also, my prayers are for the family as I know there are going to be dark days ahead. |

Don't you think it's newsworthy that Ms. Carson smoked or not? Even if you didn't know her smoking habits that should have been reported. God, I miss reading an efficient newspaper. |

I got killed (pun intended) on this board when I made the same comments about Hoeppner at IU. He was dragging the program down with an illness from which he didn't recover. I thought they should have made a move early on to move the program forward. Same thing with Julia. Hate that she's ill and will not recover but she needs to step aside to allow someone to represent the district properly in Congress. |
