Full story: Rediff.com

“There is no threat to Tamil language and Tamils in our country”

As concerns were being raised in India over the 'harsh' treatment meted out to ethnic Indians -- especially Tamils in Malaysia -- a team of Tamil writers from Kuala Lumpur on a goodwill tour of Tamil Nadu said ... via Rediff.com

I request all Indians from outside Malaysia, who have decency and honour, to force change for the good of Malaysian born Indians. Do not buy anything Malaysian. Do not do business with Malaysians. Do not provide any funding to Malaysians. Those who say this will hurt Malaysian Indians are mistaken. Who hurts more when the tap runs dry? One who is fat and lazy with water, or one who has been thirsty for 50 years (or more)? Do not put up with Malaysian Malays who have stolen the Indian language and don't even acknowledge the fact...Malaysia - land of mountains, bumiputera - princes of the earth, roti, guru, singa, matahari, temasya, mustahil, jingga, nila, perdana menteri, negara, kapal, etc.......a shameless group of people who need their eyes opened.

This is old news, but still, Indian-Malaysian trade is peanut in comparison our trade with the US and China (well over 30 billions annually).

India pitches for trade with Malaysia
Manoj Kumar
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, December 19
With the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s announcement to attract up to $ 150 billion foreign direct investment (FDI) in the infrastructure sector, the Indian government is pitching for increase in Malaysian investment in the infrastructure sector, especially in roads, shipping and ports.

The issue will be discussed with Malaysian Prime Minister Adbdullah Ahmad Badwai, who arrived here today on a five-day state visit to India accompanied by a large delegation of businessmen. India is expected to urge him to use his influence to increase bilateral trade and with other Asean countries. Bilateral trade between the two countries is estimated to cross the $ 4-billion mark this year from $ 3.2 billion registered last year.

Since Malaysia is the largest trade partner of Indian among Asean countries, and home to over two million persons of Indian origin, the government hopes to improve economic, social and political relations with the country.

Indian companies are looking at Malaysia as a gateway to enter Asean countries and China.“ Malaysian companies play an active role in infrastructure development in India including in the construction of highways and ports. Similarly, Indian companies ... have been engaged in the Malaysian industrial sector since the 1970s,” the Indian Foreign Ministry said ahead of his arrival.

The current trade balance is firmly in Malaysia’s favour.

The government is also expected to urge Malaysia to use its influence and help create an Asian free trade market with Asean countries by 2015, a trade official said. Malaysia will assume the chairmanship of Association of South East Asia Nations (Asean) next year.

The traders said Badwai is expected to push New Delhi to lower palm oil duties. India is one of the largest importers of Malaysian palm oil. It imports 50 per cent of its annual edible oil requirement of nearly 9 million tonnes, the bulk of which is palm oil from Malaysia and Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Indian government will showcase its new economic policies to attract investment in the infrastructure sector.

Exactly - let the Malaysian Hindus return to Bharat, and we can send our unwanted Muslims to Malaysia.

They should repeat the process worldwide: non-Muslims in Muslim countries should be repatriated to non-Muslim states, and Muslims in non-Muslim countries should be sent back to the dar-al-Islam.

A lot of the world's problems would be solved that way.

I still recall the days when the Malay’s politicians pointed out the lack of Indonesia’s democracy. Arrogantly they denounced to their fellow countrymen by how the state would be trapped into jeopardy if the democracy ala Indonesia is implemented. Several times, in openly manner, blatantly they denoted Indonesia’s democracy as a fail case and it wouldn’t deserve enough to be followed. They, many times, by harsh alluding or wild gestures were made statements that full of mocks upon Indonesia’s way of democracy.
Those days, jauntily they proclaimed that the Malay’s way is the best!

The day passes from one to another.
Nowadays the situation simply turned upside down. There are no more optimistic faces of those mockers. There are no more self-possessions of being pronounced of them. There are no more breasts to be pounded. No more but the amateur responses to deny the existence of the growing up democracy by their own fellow countrymen.

These lately, every morning I always have a cup of Toraja coffee with me. Smiles are decorating my faces. This time is my turn to laugh to read the news from the neighbor country. Those elites are so amateur, and simply lost their idea by how to handle the things properly. Well, like my people’s saying,“The wheels of wagon are keeping cycling”.

So, please be a wise a bit; a humble a bit…

Regards,
Tito

Why do you think Bumiputera is more valuable than Indians? They've been in Malaysia since more than hundred years and they also participating in Malaysian development. In that case, you also think that Chinese is just another bug in your system I presume.
Well, if you think it's better to pack them back to India, then do it! Let's see how hesitate your government will be. Because they also know they could know just wipe out their role in Malaysia economy.

There is no big deal, all family in the world either big or small cannot escape from dispute each other. American family, Indonesian family, India family and Malaysian family with a special entity namely BN (barisan nasional) components I believe can re-adjust new formulation to be more strong and stronger and strongest in the south east asia. All malaysian people are asset for the country, but not as a liability to export to their neigbour land.

well, the HINDRAF case wasn't the first time Malays in malaysian act discriminatively against Indian malaysians. Have you guys heard about the comment made by Khairy (the son in-law of Malaysian Prime Minister) about the last Deepavali? He blamed Indian Malaysians for taking a day-off on Deepavali, because he said it made her father in-law's speech was not read by Malaysians. If you want the complete story, read this : http://blog.limkitsiang.com/2007/11/09/khairy...

Talking abt being "Truly Asia" and boasting of inter-racial harmony in their country, even a member of the first family doesn't know how to respect other race.

Migratory birds

The migration of Indians, mainly Tamils and Telugus, to Malaysia started in the second half of the 19th century, primarily as indentured laborers, who were brought by the British to work on plantations, roads, railway lines and ports.

The second wave of Indians came as auxiliaries, mostly from North India, as part of the police force and security services. About the same time also came Indians from Kerala and Sri Lankan Tamils from Jaffna to work as clerks and subordinate civil servants. The third stream of immigrants came as traders, most predominant among these were the Chettiars, a South Indian moneylending caste.

The latest wave of Indian immigration started toward the end of the last century when Malaysia, like its neighbor Singapore, began looking at India as a source for knowledge economy professionals. Starting in the 1970s, Malaysia began a transition to an industrialised economy, aided by its petroleum boom. In later decades, as the world economy globalized, Malaysia sought to become a services hub and develop a knowledge-based economy. Indians in the IT sector were especially sought after. Malaysia even formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding with India on manpower recruitment on a contract basis in March 2005.

Upadhyay and Mishra are just two examples among the thousands of Indian knowledge economy workers who work in Kuala Lumpur's IT district, Cyberjaya.
"I was actually planning to immigrate to New Zealand, but when I got an opportunity to work in Malaysia, I jumped at the offer," says Upadhyay, an engineer-MBA who works with an instructional design firm. He was working in Delhi with a multinational company before moving to Malaysia three years ago. He lives in a condo, drives a second hand car and leads a comfortable life.

Mishra who works for an Indian call centre as a hardware support engineer also came around the same time as Upadhyay. They met at Cyberjaya and became friends in an alien country. Mishra shares a condo and a newly bought car with his Malaysian Chinese girlfriend. "I was looking for an overseas posting and my company transferred me to Malaysia. It was a cool offer and I took it," he says cheerfully.

Though IT professionals like Upadhyay and Mishra lead isolated lives, mostly among the expat community, some of them have been attracted to local Chinese women.

"When cupid strikes it does not see the color of your skin," says Vinita Upadhyay, who is close to the couple.

So, will Mishra tie the knot with his girlfriend? "They are committed but Amit's family might have problems," says Vinita.

Like Mishra, Satish Shetty, 34,a Maharashtrian R&D manager with a Malaysian IT company, too has a local girlfriend. "I was working with an IT firm in Brunei when I met my Malaysian girlfriend," says Shetty. "Both of us were in an alien country and loneliness drove us toward each other. We fell in love and I decided to follow her to Malaysia."

"We plan to get married soon," he says, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
