'Centre has promised to study ITI, BSNL merger'

Right decision.
ITI is having digital Telecom equipment manufacturing facilities such as OCB 283, MLLN, CSN and all INDIA Offices and also dedicated staff - especially ITI Palakkad. If BSNL so wishes, they can make cream.

Definitely a Good Decision. Because ITI has good infrastructure. Both are having Husband and wife relation on merging a family moves smoothly.

Good, Since both are into the same line merging is no problem.

Instead of going to purchase, Having our own unit to manufacture saves huge amount of money.

This should have been done long ago. Though late but the right step taken by the Govt. must be appreciated by one and all.

Board of ITI is very lucky, if ITI is merged with BSNL.
All their sins accumulated over years will be washed away.
Whatever it is, this action a few years ago, would have saved several thousand crores of public money which is donated by Central Govt to ITI as Budgetory Support.
BSNL is no better than ITI. A small leaking boat (ITI) is getting merged with a huge wrecked ship (BSNL). However both are going to sink.
No much of difference

ITI was founded by Government of India as the first Public Sector Undertaking of Free India.Now ITI is sinking due to the reason that it was put to competition with its own technology partners like Alcatel on one side and surplus manpower on the other hand. If this company is not merged with BSNL other option can be merge with some growing defence establishmensts like HAL, BEL etc which are expanding for increasing production. Or else privatise both BSNL and ITI.
One public sector crying against privatisation can not argue against the Government for its positive approch to support a sinking PSU by proposing merger of BSNL and ITI.

Good Decision- BSNL can make use of the skilled staff of ITI to manufacture in house the telecom equipments required instead of importing and also can make use of the staff in south and northern units to installation and operation maintenance of telecom equipments.

good decision, but bsnl union is apposing, hope is good decision, bsnl union has to thing it again.

TOTALLY UNWARRANTED AND SINISTER DESIGN
It is totally illogocal and un-convinced that the merger of ITI with BSNL is good. In todays fast and hard competitive market the BSNL is all ready striving hard to make its own existance viable due to; the SOCIAL SERVICES rendered by the department ( by rural works) on the behest of the Govt on one side and removing the support (like ADC etc.) by the Govt on other hand. Hence the merger of ITI with BSNL shouldn't be made at any cost.
If the Govt is so keen to revive the ITI, it may do it by giving some support to the ITI or by bidding the ITI in the mkt.

hope its a finall stage, and impliment very soon in comming days.

The merger between bsnl & ITI is still in its infancy stage. Nobody knows eaxctly as to what will happen to BSNL and ITI after the merger. No one can predit it. There are problems galore .
As of now BSNL, when the people go for collection of amount for the materials supplied by ITI, the
company faces lot of problem in the form of corruption from the lowest to highest and the way
they are treated shabbily. Now after merger the fear is more so asto how they treat the ITI persons and I am sure for anything the ITI man will be the scape goat. Let them find a prompt solution before they take the decision of merger.
surely ITI people will loose identity in the long run.

ITI was pampered with monopoly for forty years and suddenly made it to compete with private players. The lack of future vision by the Board of ITI, change of products in line with market demand, arrogant attitude, was sufficient enough to bring ITI to its present status.

Similarly, things have started with BSNL. IF it took 10 years for ITI, it could hardly a couple of years for BSNL to erode from the telecom market and put them in much worst position than what ITI is today.

Public sectors which were called as back bones of Indian Economy, now seems a burden on national economy, with Politicians contributing 50% and Board of respective units contributing the rest.

Atleast when Goverment is awakening to open a orphanage (BSNL-ITI merger), its time we (Employees fo BSNL-ITI) give a serious thought consider as last resort, before they fade away in this fast telecom market in INDIA.

BSNL, MTNL & ITI should merge on sake of Union of INDIA. With their vast infrastructure skilled manpower in every field through out the country with Public money can make wonders. If sincere, enthusiastic, long term visionable and accountable and experienced personals in the helm of affairs, can compete with any hard core MNCs. Govt should give 5 / 10 yrs tenure to them with free hand and they should have accountablity to the people.

Both should(BSNL& ITI) merge.
if this is possible there is no doubt this impact growing enormously..in telecom field and competetor will come forward this joint venture.
Bcz ITI Has very good infrastructure and good man power skill. expertise in every field.
so BSNL should come forward to grab this opprtunity.
ITI manufacturing SIM and other telecom equipments for BSNL.Installation, Operation and maintenace of BSNL is with ITI.

On one fine morning I had the opportunity of meeting BSNL officers who are working inside our
premises. I just casually enquired from them about the merger issue. All of a sudden he got so
angry and started shouting, as it is you people have spoiled ITI and God only save us after merger. He was sarcastic in saying that you all have time bound promotion and nobody bothers about the quality of the work, and in our BSNL we have to write the departmental exam and qualify,
and imagine the quality of the people. I coolly told him all along when we were manufacutring and supplying equipment you were appreciating about the quality of our products manufactured by our non qualified person. After the change of economy and craze of importing from other countries you have started comparing us with them.
If we were tought of their technical knowhow we would have become number one and the way the BSNL
stopped manufacturing of CDMA by ITI and that would have given a frest lease of life to ITI., for which he didn't open his mouth. This is just a
tip of an iceberg
