DUBLIN, Ireland 17 July, 2008 - Dublin-based internet radio and immigrant community resource website BabylonRadio.com officially launches its site with a celebration at Floridita nightclub at 8pm on 24 July 2008.

Steered by local visionary Derren Hogarty, BabylonRadio.com offers a platform for newcomers to Ireland that connects them with the resources they need for a more productive experience in the country.

“After teaching English for 12 years to young adults who travelled from all over Europe to Ireland for that opportunity, I couldn’t help but connect a common theme amongst my students; they didn’t know where to go to find information on practical issues that would help them settle into life here. I got the idea to start BabylonRadio.com in an effort to ease their transition. On the site, people can review resources from a variety of topics, from settling disputes with landlords and finding a good GP to where to go for Japanese food or a decent cup of coffee.”

As people browse the multilingual website for information regarding accommodation, health, Irish law, employment and networking opportunities, BabylonRadio.com will be broadcasting a variety of music shows. Several programs will combine music with programs reflective of the issues facing a diverse multinational Irish community. To help improve the language skills of non-native English speakers, BabylonRadio.com has enlisted the talent of three English teachers as presenters for their own shows. Additionally, BabylonRadio.com sees internet radio as an ideal place to promote talent and encourages musicians, artists and writers to utilize the website as a promotional tool for their gigs and work.

BabylonRadio.com views Floridita as the ideal setting for its launch because the nightclub expertly conveys a festive vibe by celebrating diversity.

“We expect a huge turn-out for the launch party at Floridita. We have great bands and DJs performing all night. It’s centrally located and near every form of public transportation Dublin has to offer. It has all the ingredients for a fun night out.”
