Well, he is family to someone. Why not be happy to acknowledge history. This is not the first great thing coming out of a Singletary or Dunham descendant, read the history in the Carolina's. I am proud and honored to have such esteem. I can't understand why people are such haters when there is someone that is for everyone, but who am I to judge-Christ was done the same way. Love is a powerful thing so claim it.

These forums are interesting. I wonder why this is even a topic. Barak Obama is a "BLACK AMERICAN"; thats it, end of story. Hopefully he makes wise decisions while he's in office, come next year. My kids are biracial but I let them know that they are black; they understand that they are black; and that is their cultural identity as Black Americans. They respect all Americans and thats the way it should be.Barack Obama isn't Irish; not in the least bit! He will be Commander in Chief, he will be our 44th president, and he is 100% Black American! I wonder if all europeans think that Americans are stupid. Maybe you think it's ok to disrespect our elected officials. Whatever, makes me rethink traveling to other countries. We've got everthing here in the U.S. anyway.

I am pretty sure his white mother would have something to say about that if she were still with us. Why can't he just be an American? Why do you feel the need to add a hyphen?

To the comment below - a DNA sampling was done 2002 on descedants, and Jonathan Singletary and siblings were shown to all be family of both Susanna Cooke and Richard Singletary.
"Obama is alledgedly a descendant of Johnathan Dunham alias Singletary (questionable son of Richard).
I'd love to see the source for the information regarding DNA as well! Meanwhile, I have no problem claiming my ancestors, though I'm not too keen on being a cousin of our current vice-president. It's a little too convoluted for me... is Dick Cheney related to *all* of Richard Singletary's descendants?

'Irish' love to 'practice' hip-hop,soul,reggae, jazz so they must be 'African'and Irish who practice 'English' must be English then. In this day and age we are ALL globally influenced, genetically as well as 'culturally'.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Cancer

You feel the urge to move onward, powered by your wisdom: when you're right, you're right. You may feel that any further explanation is unnecessary, but the people you're dealing with might need it spelled out for them. Take the time to draw a picture or use smaller vocabulary words to get your point across, Cancer. A public demonstration will probably prove to be the last word on the subject.
