Don't anyone get to excited this stupit fool has not done a thing right since he bought his way into the white house, in fact most everythng he has done has been done under a dictatorship. He's the worst president we have ever had and needs to go quietly, he's done enough damage to the people of the US shipping their jobs overseas for shear profit...I won't go on, everyone in whats left of the US is feeling pain from this fool unless your already wealthy....then you want more war and see Middle Class America fall apart...that has been bushies goal from the get go. Let's all ask him if he's gotten enough and maybe he could go quietly.....its time he just leaves we need no more damage.

Clearly, it is a bad day to the world’s socialists, communists and Islamic terrorists and clearly no other than US left wing liberal Dems socialist that’s support US worst enemies including the Islamic terrorists led by the evil Iranian regime. Bush was right to say to the people of Croatia “Henceforth, should any danger threaten your people, America and the NATO alliance will stand with you and no one will be able to take your freedom away”.
Evidently, it is a dangerous world out there with evil radical regimes like Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia with the support of Putin and Chavez that are using Islamic terrorist suicide bombers to attack innocent people and the international airlines and trains, to ruin the civilized world security and to destroy the economy of US and its NATO allies with soaring oil prices.
President Bush great achievements are wrongly belittled by the left wing liberal hypocrites that cannot see the danger to the American people from the Iranian regime’s and Osama Bin Laden’s Islamic terrorists like during the rich Clintons’ reckless 'happy' years in the 1990s.

Nato has betrayed its great record

We need to ignore President Putin's bully boy tactics

Ernest Bevin, described the treaty that established Nato, as “an endeavour to express on paper the underlying determination to preserve our way of life”. The former Foreign Secretary was right. The alliance has proved to be the most successful liberation movement in history.

That record was besmirched yesterday. Nato members, meeting in Bucharest, barred Georgia and Ukraine from the first stages of joining the alliance. It is a huge diplomatic success for President Putin. Ukraine and Georgia received support from the US, Canada and the nations of eastern and central Europe. There is no indication that Bevin's successors have any notion of the defeat inflicted on the cause of liberal democracy.

Defenders of Mr Putin's obduracy point to “legitimate grievances” that Nato's enlargement aggravates. Yet for two decades Nato has emphasised pacific intent, while Russia has become only more aggressive and threatening. On first meeting Mr Putin, President Bush gushed:“I looked the man in the eye. I was able to get a sense of his soul.” Yet since 9/11, no amount of brutality and authoritarianism on Putin's part has dissuaded Western governments from treating him as a valued ally in the struggle against Islamist terrorism.

There is no reason we should accede to Russia's demands and much justification for ostentatiously flouting them. Mr Putin has few talents on the international stage save bluster and obstructionism. Consider his crude meddling in the Ukrainian presidential election; his economic blockade of Georgia, and his posturing over its would-be breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia; his malign encouragement of Iran's nuclear deception; his unilateral overtures to Hamas, nicely designed to sabotage Western efforts at Middle East diplomacy. The hostility is calculated, not reactive.

But the reasons for deploring Nato's decision are not only negative. The coloured revolutions in Georgia in 2003 (Rose) and Ukraine in 2004 (Orange) marked the failure of the Kremlin's dealings with the former Soviet republics. Mr Putin was on the side of the corrupt administrations that popular pressure defeated.

The integration of these states into Nato is not only about security. It symbolises, and consolidates, democratic advance. Mr Putin is a ballot-rigging autocrat whose natural allies are those, such as the Uzbek dictator Islam Karimov, for whom the abuse of human rights is an end in itself.

Any diplomatic posture adopted by Nato governments will be taken as provocative by Mr Putin.

We might as well therefore do the right thing, not least by those who have to live alongside him.

Very good post. I can't fault the logic and agree with you that former Soviet socialist countries have no part in NATO.

I suppose that in theory, they now hold NATO to ransom: they can provoke a Russian reaction, to which NATO would be duty bound to assist.

Little Estonia or Latvia can create an incident, Russia start shooting and the whole Eastern Europe goes in flames, with NATO getting involved.

With the 'revanchist' mindset present in Eastern Europe, that could well be tested earlier than we think. Georgia, if it gets in, is a candidate for causing trouble. Reassured that he will get back up, Sakashvili would not hesitate to try to resolve his border conflict with Russia, and drag the whole of NATO in it.

Who wants to die for Belarus, Georgia or Ukraine? Please form an orderly queue!!

It's not like Bush had anything to do with any of this. He's lucky if he can pronounce half of these countries.
