My husband and I have both been laid off for 4 months now! I't just dont look like things are going to get any better, its kinda scary! Ever where we have looked for jobs is not hiring so we went and bought lawn mowers for a yard business and they got stolen off our trailer then we went and bought more but you cant make money on it because the ILLEGAL IMMERGRANTS have taken over that..You go to mow a 60 dollar yard and they tell you the mexicans cut it for 20 dollars.. I would just like to get other opinions on this damn economy...

I agree with all of you we can not even make it in our own country because our own country is worried about letting all the immigrants stay here cause they are cheap labor what happened to integrity? Me and my husband also lost our jobs and i tried to get unempoyment yeah right it takes 4-6 weeks and then the employer fights it so we cant get it. Tried food stamps an all time low for us and got turned down. Go Figure!!! I dont understand it we have worked hard all our lives starting at teenage years and when the times get tough your SOL. We are tryng as well to start up our own business but the banks will not loan out the money like they are supposed to i feel the government should of gave every one of us the money at least we would circulate it better then they are. I know we have had harder times but in the past we did not have to deal with the greed like we do now. What is the world coming to?

I dont want to bring up our new president because people will say that he had nothing to do with it but ALL oil and gas has shut down because they dont want to pay all the taxes he wants to stick them with and i dont blame them, i think workers paid enough when they had jobs..Thats what kept this economy going is workers and now he wants to tax the hell out of them so they cant afford to even work for paying taxes..People may not agree but oil and gas brings alot of jobs!!! illegal immergrants have more jobs than U.S citzens plus get help from the goverment..HOW IS THAT WHEN I CANT GET ANY ?!? Dont even try and say they dont get food stamps and welfare either because i cant hardly check out in the grocery line and they pay with FOOD STAMP CARDS! I was born and raised here and I am almost homeless and i rake up a few dollars(i mean 5.00) to go buy my child some milk when i get very pissed! I see Them in brand new trucks and taking over the jobs and using food stamps (THAT I CANT GET!!)...Anyway im going to stop for now because i am getting very angry!..lol

Let's say there were no more or far fewer illegal immigrants. Who would farm and provide your grocery stores with food? Citizens? If citizens did the work, farmers would have to pay 10X more, which means your food would cost 10X more. The economy would outright collapse. There would be no jobs for anyone. That's an over simplification of a more complex story, but it's in terms that you can understand. When your financial situation recovers, take an economics class at your local community college. Or make some educated friends and learn from them.

CONCERNED---- you are doing the wrong thing with the lawn mowers---- you should be REPAIRING lawn mowers. it basically costs nothing to get started-- just your basic hand tools, and some mechanical knowledge. you can work in your garage or back yard. in my area all the shops charge $75 a hour labor for repairs. I charge $ 40 a hour , not bad money to be made in the back yard. and the mark up on the parts you use is 200 per cent. the parts are available wholesale from several suppliers.---- ok now you have been told how to start your own business, if you do not its your own fault.

Judging by all the terrible grammer and ignorant views I have read in this thread, it's no wonder many of you cannot find jobs. If your level of education is so poor that you find yourself competing with immigrants, then blame yourself, not the immigrants doing honest work for an honest pay. In this economy, all 5 people in my household have jobs, I got my bonus, another got a raise, another got a promotion, and all of our employers are hiring. We're not lucky. We are skilled and educated. CNN is blowing this recession out of proportion. It is not a recession so much as it is a readjustment. Some people obviously were making more than they are worth.

I am insulted by your ignorance! Just because you have a job (and probably had your job before the recession started) and live a happy little Mr Rogers neighborhood life, you think everything is fine. I am a educated veteran of the United States Navy who served 3 tours to the Middle East. I was honorably discharged about a year ago and have had a very difficult time trying to get a job since. So next time, why don't your educate yourself a little bit before you come on here and bash your fellow Americans.

i think this economy is going to get better sometime soon. The reason for all these problems is our stupied president George W. Bush! Man that guy needs to be hung for putting this country were it is today! If we would have pulled out of this stupied war a long time ago, we would be in alot better shape than where we are today. I am a vet. that served my country for the marine corps and i think this war is about oil and money! God I hope Obama can fix this mess!! And i even heard that Bush was writting a book on how he fixed the economy!! HAHA man that guy is freakin crazy!!!

Well, I recently became a US Resident and I must say, the ignorance and misconception of immigrants taking "American" jobs is ridiculous and absurd. First of all hippocracy is very clearly shown in this discussion when speaking of going overseas for employment. Second, has an immigrant, the observation of my kind in it's working habitat has made me realize how we are modern day slaves. Now we don't work to destroy anyones lifestyle. We work because survival is all that's left. It's very ironic experiencing this economic crisis when ones problem is blamed on the ones who have no say. Even in one's shoes I cannot believe we still don't grasp the bigger picture. I was once full of ignorance and hate until I educated myself, I suggest you try the same.

Then go back where you came from. Our job's are going overseas anyway. All the labor jobs are cut out now bc of mexicans taking our jobs away by under pricing everything. Whats the use of even trying to go to college to pay all the money out and come out of college and GET WHAT JOB THERE IS NONE.

I didn't know you were looking for a job washing dishes, cleaning houses/hotel rooms or offices at night. Either way, why don't you blame the us citizens hiring and underpaying the immigrants. They're the ones making the profit at the end, and the reason this cycle exists. And by the way, maybe you should go to school so your grammar doesn't reflect on your lack of education.

I don't put all the blame on the immigrants personally. I feel we need to put just as much effort into prosecuting the employers who hire illegal immigrants, especially when one of their fellow countrymen is in great need of a job. If Americans were payed an honest wage, outsourcing of American jobs was made illegal for the time being and all the jobs were recovered,(As if that'd be possible at this point) and companies and the government didn't base the prices of things off of two incomes per household, then people would be able to afford many necessities in life. We've gotten to the point where if you want to survive comfortably on your own, you must be married from the start and you and your spouse must have decent paying jobs. So yes, if those farmers payed Americans the proper amount, then people would still be able to afford the increased costs because they would be making the amount that their jobs are worth. GREED is a major problem in this country and I resent those in power who claim that the middle class citizens are the greedy ones.

We have no problem with anyone coming here for a better life, it's exactly what my family and other people's families did. But we ask that they come legally, assimilate and appreciate it! I'm sorry immigrants' native countries, primarily those from Mexico, come from terrible economic conditions and countries who's growth has been hindered by corruption, BUT THAT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM! We have enough problems with our country and cannot help at this time. WE WOULD LIKE TO SURVIVE TOO! We're trying to fix our own country; Who said it was our problem to fix other people's? We the citizens, don't get the free, decent quality healthcare. We don't get WIC, food stamps, disability benefits, vouchers for free vehicles or other benefits from programs anywhere near as easily as most illegal immigrants. But we pay for the majority of those programs! Does that sound right to you? Would you tolerate that in your native country? My mother's best friend's parents came here LEGALLY from Mexico and they are all even fed up! They're suffering too! The majority of our politicians cater exclusively to the Latino population. I'm sure illegals have voted in our elections. What's to stop them? It's not like anyone checks further into the driver's license you present when you go to vote. Haven't some states already given driver's license to illegals? Even if they weren't given one, they can easily get one that looks authentic enough. So yes, immigrants can have a voice.... especially if they're Latinos! I have nothing against those who come here legally to stay, assimilate, contribute and appreciate what we have provided for them. But it disgusts me when you see them marching, some who you can tell are obviously illegal; they chant disparaging comments about this country, desecrate our flag and some of our monuments, and claim we stole this land from them. Read your history people! They sold it to us! We actually payed more than it was worth, I might add. They were about to sell out their entire country, but we declined when they offered Baja California and other areas. What you see aren't angry, irrational, ignorant, hateful people... You're seeing Americans who are angry about the irrational policies of this country and the ignorant, hateful people who support and force them upon us.

Jobs that extend beyond cleaning are actually being contracted out to companies who use illegal labor. And the one's that aren't are being outsourced. Cleaning, picking vegetables and building houses aren't the only jobs they do! My brother used to work for a telephone company as a locator and his entire department was dissolved. Many people lost their jobs with little notice. The telephone company contracted their jobs out to companies that use illegal immigrants. I believe we should get rid of the incentive for the illegals to stay here by ending the benefits that they receive and prosecute the employers. Most will not be able to stay here without the benefits and will go back to their home countries and the ones that don't will eventually be rounded up and deported. And the traitorous employers will be severely punished. It's an easy solution to a serious problem..

I am an educated person and it took me two years to find a job in my field. So don't get discouraged just keep looking! I know that is easier said than done. Henry Kissinger made an interesting remark in The New York Times, October 13, 1974, p.30B."Every civilzation that has ever existed has ultimately collapsed. History is a tale of efforts that failed, or aspirations that weren't realized....So, as a historian, one has to live with a sense of the inevitability of tragedy." It's encouraging to me that in the near future "God of heaven will set up a kingdom (a government) that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite."-Dan.2;44 God has promised that under his government all people will have satisfying employmnet for all who need t, so they can provide for themselves and their families.-Isa. 65:22
