FACT - ADT DOES NOT solicited door to door with salespeople unless contacted by the customer.
(call them ask them yourself if this is true)
CONTACT ADT DIRECTLY NOT A SIDE CO.

FACT - The people coming to your door are either legit or scammers.

FACT - The legit ADT salespeople are either working for a distributor of ADT products. THEY ARE NOT WORKING DIRECTLY WITH ADT . Some of the names of these companies are SecureWatch.com etc. Often these companies have poorly trained salespeople who will not know what to do when asked for credentials proving they are legit sales people. They are often young , minorities , trained in 3 days to a week and thrown out to the neighborhoods to solicit sales for security systems.
These salespeople can be totally legit, if not annoying.

FACT - There are real life criminals casing houses posing as ADT salespeople (read police reports and theft reports), they will often use the same pitch as the workers and have broken into people's homes.
(google it yourself)

What's rude about wanting to just come home and relax after a hard day without some jerk-off banging on my door wanting me to buy something?
If you do not want uninvited guests on your property, put up a no trespassing sign. Make sure the numbers are 3 inches in height, that the signs are in a conspicuous place at the front and rear entrance and where they cannot be removed. I put them inside my security door wherein they are visible on my security cameras. Signs that say private property are just stating something, that the property is private, other signs, protected by smith & wesson are just as useless. Put up "NO TRESPASSING" signs where they cannot be removed. If they trespass call the police. Remember most of these jokers are probably somewhat friendly with the local Po Po, however, insist on filing charges and remind the police department of the "Equal Protection Under the Law" If they refuse, raise hell, and sue them. Police Departments can be sued for willful violation of the equal protection clause under the law and they have been. I had one of these come to my home even though it was posted. I rolled him out like a wholesale carpet. If you receive mailings from them, go to USPS.com and get a form 1500 that is very simply to fill out and if they violate this order, the post office will sue them at their expense. There are much better choices for security than ADT and if they were making all that money (probably a pyramid scheme) they would not have to be going door to door. You can protect yourself. Just recently in this area, a person went in the wrong window after a homeowner told him not too. He was shot and killed by the homeowner. Remember that in Texas you have "Castle" laws. ADT is very pushy, being from Boca Raton, Florida, aka the mouth of the rat, but they will understand reason if it is applied in the proper manner.

********WARNING********* BEWARE OF THE LIES**********

I took a job with adt in oct of 2011 and was lied to about the income potential by my manager. My training was to be placed in front of a computer and complete "modules" I was never taken out on a sales call, never sent to the "adt university" for completion of my training, made to call people to set my own appointments, 90% of which told me to pound sand, then at 4:15 every day had to call into a conf call where the manager would badger all the reps as to what they had done for the day-and if you didnt sell anything or set any appointments you were made to feel like the scum of the earth. These clowns actually had the gonads to call me up and tell me that I was going to have to drive 175 miles each way to the office three days a week to complete my "training" and that if I didn't do so they were going to terminate me lol lol lol This is the most unprofessional company I have ever taken a job with in my 30+ years of selling and I would advise anyone considering a job offer from these clowns to run as fast as you can to the nearest unemployment office- you will make more money there than working for these clowns.

Had a system installed and the ADT installer activated it and had me sign the contract, but did not have all the items that I was entitled to from their advertised promotion. I called the next business day to find out what was going on, and they said they were not going to honor the promotion. So I told the lady I wanted to cancel. She got very angry and told me I was signed up for 3 years with them and could not cancel. I told her I was not about to stay with a company that would treat me like this, and reminded her I had 3 business days to cancel. She changed back into the sweet and nice person that had originally answered, but it was now too late - I had already seen their true colors! So I faxed in my cancellation notice. Now 2 months later, I got a call wanting payment. I told them I cancelled within 3 days. This is a dangerous company. I will take them to court before I will pay them a dime. I would definitely recommend that anyone reading this seriously consider other companies before they go with ADT. My experience with them has been nothing but a nightmare.

Yes, ADT does go door-to-door. I am an ADT sales rep and I think the best way to find new members is door-to-door. We give free home security reviews to find out what you need, and schedule an installation to get you protected as soon as possible. It seems we have no car or van because we might be parked a few streets over. We''re going door to door throughout the neighborhood and talking to homeowners, and it wouldn't be very efficient to get back in our cars and drive a few feet to each house. Just make sure they have a name badge with a picture!

Anyone considering a position with ADT as a "sales rep" and D-bag Nathan,

ADT is not a reputable company and these companies who they hire are a joke. They allow these company subsidiaries to have free reign and do as they please. I fell for one of these scams when I was 19 and in college. I saw an ad in the paper claiming a sales position with ADT or its subsidiary ADP with training(paid), benefits,$600-1,000 a week and no experience or qualifications necessary. I was 19 so I fell for it. I went in for training everyday for two weeks. I heard pep talks, stories about the owners former drug use, and lots of other B.S. At the end of the two weeks they told us if we were serious to show up saturday morning at 7, so I showed. We were put in a van with strangers and driven an hour away and let off in a neighborhood with a script and told to sell. I was furious...I questioned our driver/ boss and he said I had no option except to sit in the van all day and wait for the others to return. I decided to try and sell...I was paired up with a minister ( or so he claimed ) and went door to door doing the "foot swipe" sales pitch. I was chased by dogs, threatened, and almost had to physically defend myself. I made one sale where I got in the house and had to call my boss and he "sealed the deal" by lying and cheating these gullible people out of their money. I was never paid (because I quit) but I would of had to sell a system to get paid for training anyway. The part about $99 is A LIE. You can get these cheap systems for that price by calling ADT and telling them someone came to your door and made the offer or just by talking to someone. The systems are cheap and they have poor response time. The truth is that you make money at your job so you justify all the lies and propaganda to make yourself sleep at night. To be be fare Nathan all areas are probably different and I am in VIrginia, but this is common practice. I wrote this in hopes one person might read it and think twice before joining an ADT drone bootcamp. I lost two and half weeks of my life, a semester of college and over-drafted my bank account for this joke, but I'm glad it taught me a great life lesson

Sorry for the grammar mistakes...text talk

I work with ADT at the moment and let me tell you, I am not an ex-con and their background check is the most strict check I've ever encountered. It took weeks to clear. Drug test, criminal check, fingerprints, past employment. They even asked for a copy of my HS diploma, which no other past employer has ever asked for.

I interviewed for a position with them today and they get crime reports from law enforcement and the internet to target neighborhoods. The guy showed me a map where he said 15 burglaries were commited in 2 weeks. They are going there today. So yes they know, but no they didnt rob your house...

This just happened to me. Attempted break-in 5 nights ago. ADT guy parks outside my door and rings my bell. Says he's got nothing to sell when I yell through my window that I'm not interested. Immediately drives away and doesn't ring anybody else's bell. What a coincidence, huh. BTW, the cops got a nice juicy thumb print, so if this is a scam, or a desperate salesman, they better beware.

Yes they are ex-cons, my old dealers all went into ADT sales, convicted of dealing XTC ,WEED and sexual harassment. And guess what? He got the job! Now he goes into your homes trying to make a few bucks selling products NOBODY NEEDS. It's better to buy a dog on a leash than deal with these unprofessional CONS!

Maybe Authorized dealers of ADT- BUT actual ADT EMPLOYES are not INDEPENDENT CONTRATORS- I received a W2 not a 1099misc...
Also, ADT Residential Sales Reps do go door to door and they also make cold calls to set some appointments ahead of time. In fact, they could have been at an appointment and then decided to "PROSPECT" THE SURROUNDING AREA TO SEE ABOUT more SALES opportunities..(hence no vehicle when you see them)
Hope this helps; also I am only speaking on what I know. Also, keep in mind that you should always ask for ID, as there are scams out there; not necessarly this case per say, but there are crazy people out there!

This happened in our neighborhood as well. I called ADT and was told that they do go door to door. I have a sign in my yard and what bothered me is when I pointed this out, I was asked if it was hooked up.
Just because people have a security sign/ system doesn't mean they are being "monitored", that's probably all he meant by that question. I sell small business and old business that once had ADT mOved because the lease was up and a new "renter /leasee " comes in HAS ADT equipment @ that location but they never signed up for it therefore they are NOT being
monitored- which means if the alarm goes off no "signals" are sent to a mOnitoring center which means law enforcement wouldn't respond 'cause they wouldn't know!!

I do not fear salespeople. I have a no soliciting sign because I do not trust people. I will not purchase anything from my porch. If I want to buy something, I'm going to do research and make certain I'm purchasing through the proper channels. No offense to salespeople out there, but there is too much risky stuff going on. Too many scams and rip offs. I've bought things before that I never received! So, that sign is a message to let you know not to waste my time or yours.
As for the ADT reps, it's just creepy to have someone at your front door...verifying what security you have (or don't have)...pointing out what's worth stealing from your entryway...talking about the neighborhood burgarlies. Once the ADT rep leaves, I'm left wondering if it was really ADT or some guy scoping the place. It's not safe.
ya ya door to door is what made this country don't think so when it died mostly any ways do did a lot of American companies because people didn't have to prove there stuff works good any more that's why you have a house full of shit and as far as your research goes consumer reports is a scam its a few people that test every thing from microwaves to toilet paper them people don't know what there talkin about and claim to be experts lol fact is your scared not man enough to answerable door must be of French decent

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
