I'm sorry, but surely someone called him or mailed letters to inform him his mortgages were behind. Maybe he chose to ignore those warnings? That seems to be the only logical reason to let it get far enough for foreclosure. What a self righteous a**.

And, yes, he does look smug.

Because a lot of his deals have been questionable at best.

Hmmm, I was under the impression that Bank of America acquired Countrywide in January of 2008. I find it hard to believe that BofA: 1.) wasn't able to somehow contact Philippou to notify him of his payment problems 2.) would allow Philippou's loan become 18 months delinquent before filing for foreclosure.

Kyle Moberly sounds like a great lawyer!

I agree it shouldn't be front news. It seems like Jeff Steinborn's "my daddy owns half the city via him being mayor back in the hay day doing shady deals" friends are once again flooding the Topix. Can't you Californians volunteer at the schools????? Or are you waiting for Steve Fishyman[sic] to create employment in Cruces......sorry I was choking on the possibility of these legislators do something for the common good rather than the helping them selves or protecting the investments they are apart of.

Every time Philippou's name comes up it's in connection with some form of wrongdoing:

He was involved with taking State Land Commissioner Lyons on a free chartered plane trip to Washington to watch the Aggies play basketball.

He was involved with shady land donation/land swap deal with City Councilor Frietze.

He didn't pay over $200k water bill to the city until he was forced to.

He now apparently has problems making loan payments to BofA.

This guy has the stench of corruption about him. Anybody who deals with him better have Collect On Delivery terms so they don't get burned when he goes down.

In his defense, Bank of America is funny like that. I can pay a B of A credit card from a B of A checking account, and it will take 4 days to clear.

4 days to clear a transaction from within the same bank? Ridiculous. I think that Bank of America screwed the pooch on this one, and they need to hash out the problems with their own system before they start throwing stones from their big a-s-s glass house.

Just so you WASP's out there know, Phillip Phillopou came to the USA with nothing, got his degree from UTEP, and started by buying and fixing up properties near the university to rent and then began building and renting apartments to thousands of college kids. If that makes him a bad man for coming to this country without knowing the languange, and playing by the "REAL RULES" of the land, then so be it.

I laugh at those who think that "we the people" actually control what happens in this country.
