Another wave of foreclosures is poised to strike

Full story: Newsday

Just as the nation's housing market has begun showing signs of stabilizing, another wave of foreclosures is poised to strike, possibly as early as this summer, inflicting new punishment on families, communities and the still-troubled national economy.

RISING unemployment and FALLING home values??

What the BLEEP did we spend $787 BILLION on anyway??
Didn't Obama make a speech here in AZ saying his plan would stem the tide of foreclosures???

Can't WAIT for the Administration to SPIN this - IF the LIBERAL media decides to ask a tough question...

With unemployment nearing 10% and the alt-a mortgages about to reset; it was inevitable that foreclosures would increase.
The fact is, there are millions of people who bought homes with dodgy mortgages who couldn't afford them; believing they could refinance or flip them for a fast buck (thanks to all the real estate porn on cable TV).
If a person can't afford a house to begin with, the NO amount of reworking the loan will help.
First I'd take every housing show off cable TV; next I'd shoot every real estate broker; home builder; and mortgage person. Next up would be the rating firms on Wall Street; and the investment bankers who securitized the loans.
I'd have show trials on TV featuring the execs from Countrywide; Bear Stearns; and Lehman. Not to forget the National Association of Realtors.
Since the financial disaster began we haven't had a SINGLE exec from Wall St on TV to explain or apologize for what they've done.
Remarkable!

Nearly half a million job losses last month, an increase of 20% from the previous month, and Obama is out there trying to sell his brand new mega-taxes on cap and trade and health care. What, the taxpayers just aren't quite burdened enough Barry? The taxpayers that are left anyway. But heck, why should the unemployed be left out of Barack's taxing extravaganza? Lets load the unemployed by doubling their fuel costs and throw a national sales tax on them to pay for the free health care.

When's Obie going to figure out he's ran out of people to tax? Magic 8 Ball says .... never!

They voted for someone they thought would pay their mortgages and eliminate their taxes. You saw the videos - these Obamatrons thought Palin was Obama's running mate and thought he was the anti-abortion candidate. PATHETIC!

He made a speech and all you dummies fell for it. Look at this country now. The other candidate was a bozo also. Isn't it funny that the politicians once they are elected forget their promises and just dip their hands in and fill their pockets. Barry and his band of felons get bolder more and more each day. They should really be able to retire after this stint. It's a shame that this country is almost on the brink. Take some real interest and vote these incumbents out of office. Start with your local reps then congressmen and especially Chuck the Schmuck. Stupid is as stupid shows.

"15.4 million homeowners -- or about 1 in 5 of those with first mortgages -- owe more on their homes than they are worth."

Who paid premium prices and got the ARM's for houses they couldn't afford? No sympathy.

Ed seems to be in hibernation in some rodent hole.

Ed's own financial situation might have something to do with it.

Silence from Burke? Gotta wonder.

"We've only just begun."

Just wait till it STARTS to hit the fan. Ain't seen nothin' yet. Just look how the infrastructure is crumbling and wait until California has to be bailed out by the Feds. The Pelosi-Osama team will make sure that happens. Guaranteed.

Good for you..90% of my family has left LI, mostly in NC and not one misses NY or the ridiculous taxes. My long term goals take me OUT of here as well although my goal is a home out of the country half the year and some place NOT in NY the other half.

Once they raise my taxes to pay for the 'stimulus', to pay for the defunct social security system...to pay for national healthcare for 20 million illegals..by then I should be paying 50% in taxes to pay for those that don't pay taxes..u know the Obama fans.

Check out the fair tax. It's a non-partisan idea that would eliminate the IRS and impose a flat sales tax across the US. Anybody from illegal immigrants to tourists would now be entered into the tax pool and it would allow people to control their own personal income in a way that hasn't been seen yet.

Smaller government is also a novel idea. How about we let the financial market operate how its suppose to. Stop bailing out failing companies. What good is propping up losers going to do? Bankruptcy is a great idea when its allowed to function. You sell off your assets to people that can better manage them.

Look no further than Amtrak if you want an example of how government run business works. The idea that the government can spend my money better than I can is what's holding back the country right now.

Regarding the dump you robbed someone for 770. I'll bet you tried to get even more than that by trying to sell it without a realtor first.

Imagine getting a loan with no documentation or no money down. also no fixed rate of interest. This reads like a bad novel and yet it happened. Interest only loans too. What a nightmare. If you tried to beat the system with any of these, then you deserve to be foreclosed!
