Blame the banks and credit card companies for most of this. They lure you in with all kinds of promises, then when the going gets a little ruff, instead of working with people they hit them with the micro fine print and raise all your fees and interests rates, even if you lose your job they don't care. So no sympathy here, Keep cleaning up all those forclosures and abandoned homes. The banks really need more of them. Then when the feds raid the banks and shut them down, they will know the feeling.

Blame yourself. If you can't be bothered to read the fine print, don't spend more than you have. reddog wrote: Blame the banks and credit card companies for most of this. Some people bought homes and then unfortunate circumstances like job lose, medical emergencies, etc. Like I said "you just never know." Which makes them financially illiterate either by choice or ignorance . And I do know of people who over bought or just plain did not pay their bills and brag about screwing utility companies, loans whatever they can leaving the rest of us to pick up the pieces.. But I also know a couple who medical bills and not enough of insurance because of their job cut benefits and hours are in a predicament and losing their home. The later I truly believe is no fault of their own. Their situations can teach the rest of us that nothing is dependable and predictable . It use to be you had a job and it was usually alswys going to be there if you were loyal and a hard worker. Today is a new story. Things change. And innocent people who were honestly diligent get caught into the mix.

Get rid of the cadillac, Lexus and do without. There are jobs out there for $10 an hour however it won't make you well to do but helps to defray the forclosure. Get rid of the steaks and eating out is another way to save. Use clothing vs designer jeans. How can you own your own home for say 15 years and owe more on it than you originally did. Stupidity. Leave the equity alone. I've been there and survived because I had a will to do without a lot of thing. No handouts, charity or feeling sorry for myself. So cut the moaning and do it.

I am one of those people that is facing foreclosure! Not because I am lazy or anything else. It's because of the banks (crooks). I built my own home 4 yeears ago. My mortgage has been sold 5 times since I origionally financed it. The end result here is that my mortagage had nearly doubled and is now out of reach to ever pay it! Therefore I a in foreclosure mode. Why should I care? I have already applied for a remodification but that will never happen, as the banks already got their bailout so they could care less on helping anyone. They already got their money, now they are just waiting for the house to foreclose so they can own them too. I got a big suprise for them though. My home will be absolutely stripped of EVERYTHING!!!!! The only thing left will be the poutside walls to barely hold up the roof. These son=of-a-bitches deserve everything they got coming to them. I wnat to see them try to make money off of my house. I will not leave anything behind. Carpet, flooring, water heater, electrical, kitchen cabinets, doors, windows, anything I can possibly sell in the meantime. Screw-em! If they can't help me then SCREWW_EM!!!!!!!!!!

If you are referring to me about moaning I am not and have no reason to just understanding others possible plight. Did without often. Don't do eating out. I try to save where I can I think I live wisely and practical to meet my bills. I don't always like it but that is life. My parents were kids during the depression and learned from their parents and then handed it down to us their children. What a gift they gave us to survive in hard times. Anyway, you gave good info but some people it is to below them to take the higher road and do what is right. People need to look at the long picture and not live for just now and hope the rest takes care of it's self.

Seems you were honest and the bank to advantage. I know we did do an equity and added mor to our home and renovated with siding and windows and guess what the bank sent us a letter our home has declined in value as like others in our area and development. It doesn't state in the letter so I went to the bank and asked the loan office and wait untill you hear the reasoning. A large company in our present area has been laying off and is thinking about moving. so we home owners pay the prices. Taxes will go up , many apllicants for the same jobs, prices have already went up in the stores in the recent weeks, etc. So many expenses, layoffs and closings of homes business and other outsourcing companies will happen. The domino effect. But when times were good the banks loved their customers and had offers after offers in your mailbox , tv, radio, newspaper adds, etc. Old Family furniture stores in this vicinity liked this area and the money but now are haulting giving credit and have lowered their prices to move their overstock. But the money isn't there for the people to spend. Where is our stimilis. Those on Welfare and the senior citizens have received theirs. Where is the middle class and the working persons stimilis and i am not talking a supposed tax break. Yep it is here and more is coming.

I know several people who are getting foreclosure go out before it happens and rent an apartmetn or downsize financially to a nice trailer, doublewide before it shows on their credit report and then they just moe on walking away and start a new life. 4 homes in our are haave done this in our development alone. And I know of people I have worked with did the same. A sign of the times.

Sure it's not as nice as our current home but a 1/3 of the cost per month.(Easy living) I am just trying to get someone to come and clean out our current home. I don't care if they tear the shingles off the roof. I don't want the bank to make a single penny off of my home.(Bastards)

OMG your so ignorant , where do I begin?? It's Illegal for banks to change your interest rate unless it was agreed upon in writing ahead of time. So if your rate really changed then you must have signed up for an adjustable rate. My guess is that you did this to lower your initial mortgage payment. Since you signed a legal document (mortgage) the bank is not required to modify your loan. Face it, your part of the overall problem, you bought a house you couldn't afford. On the bailout issue,......only banks with assets over 1billion dollars were eligible for the bailouts. There are about 8300 banks in the US right now, only 13 qualify for bailouts under the present guidelines. I doubt your mortgage is with one of them. So here's the bottom line, you didn't have a good understanding of your loan terms (your fault), the fact that your mortgage was sold is irrelevant (your ignorance), you bought a house you couldn't afford (your ignorance), so you destroying this house because you were ignorant/stupid?

You are wrong. I didn't buy a house I couldn't afford! I bought built a house that had an origional mortgage payment of $874.00 per month. I now has a payment of $2,075 per month. I did not have an adjustable rate mortgage. The problem is all my taxes, insurance, etc. are escrowed into the payment. And because are government is so corrupt they escrow payments have skyrocketed. My bank has already gotten their bailout $$$ to cover my home so why should they want to help me out when they can own the house too? Problem is they have no idea what they will be inheriting. It will be inhabitable. I will make sure of it.
