The Home Affordable Refinance Program mentioned in above article, says to contact Fifth Third at 1-888-393-1351. I am an existing Fifth Third Bank Mortgage Customer and I called number mentioned above to inquire. I was very upset with the customer service I received and I was directed to this website: https://www.53.com/wps/wcm/connect/resources/...
The article WISHTV listed says no income or asset verfication required. Fifth Third makes you fill out the entire application and verify all of your assets and it is basically a loan application all over again. Just thought I would let you know that according to your information and the OBAMA federal government’s Making Home Affordable Program it not as easy or as planned out to be according to OBAMAS plan. I used to bank with 5/3 and was very dissatisfied with their customer service in general.

Me too! First the 5/3 told me I had to give him $200.00 with a credit card right then over the phone to start the process and have my home appraised. He said if I qualify for the Making Home Affordable Program, I would get an interest rate in the 4%'s ONLY if I opened a 5/3 checking account and had the payment deducted automatically. If I did not do this, my interest would be in 5%'s. He also said that I should plan to bring 3-8,000 to closing! I do not think this is what the President intended. It is just like banks to tweak things to squeeze more money out of us. I'm disgusted.

I have had checking & savings accounts & CD's
with 5/3 since l990. I have been very satisfied. My husband has a business account with them also. We have had excellent service. |

Oh, my gosh thank-you all for posting I thought I was the only one having to jump through hoops to get a home loan. Just two weeks ago I went through the application process with 5/3. The banker told me I was approved and that we were on our way to doing inspections, and appraisals. Then today he calls me and says he needs to verify my income again and I was under a letter of caution, and had me come down an jump through more hoops! I'm so frusterated with this loan process. Plus we have already started the surveys and inspections, and then the banker tells me I'm not even approved when he said the opposite two weeks ago. I'm so glad I'm not the only one.
