Plain and simple. Don't make kids you can't afford and take care. Be choosey about who you lay down with. Be responsible for your own life as in education, having a job, and supporting your self before making new human beings with no daddies and hooking up with a deadbeat and prison material.

They could have sent every man woman and child a check for $2,600!! for a family of 4, that's over 10,000! That would have spurred the economy more than any other BS program they put out there!! We do agree on that.

why wasn't it mentioned in the article that the 32 year old son lives with the family? why did the article read that he only stays with them "occasionally"? all these comments from readers are directed at the mother and daughter, but the son lives there too and has a full-time job with steady income. why isn't he shouldering some of the burden financially, and the social burden of defending the family here on this messageboard? why doesn't the article clarify where all their money is going? and if the article was about "hidden poverty" in general, why the focus on only one family? What about the guy who stands at the corner of east market and south belmont street with the 'will work for food' sign? why single this family out and set them up for such criticism alone?

Wow....you people think what you read in this article was bad....what the article failed to mention is that coleen's 32 year old son also lives in the household, I wonder if welfare knows about that? So not only are their two adults in the house not working, but their are two adults who are (coleen and her 32 year old son) So why is their a financial hardship with two people working full time????? You figure it out.... combined income and welfare..i call this taking advantage of the system WELFARE FRAUD!

Nothing is done. Why? Because the more people on the rolls the more the case workers have jobs. A catch 22 for the taxpayers. And these welfare bums know it. They aren't so uneduacted to know how to work the system. The ones that really need it seem to be few. Same with SSI turn people in nothing. I go to work everyday and this peos me off to have money stolen out of my paycheck for thee never ending theives and at their leisure.

Why are we paying young girls to have babies. Welfare should be for those who need help at sometime as their chiildren are growing and find theirselves in financial distress for a periiod. These young giirls get pregnant knowing full well that the daddy and them plan on the taxpayer supporting them. What sense is this practice that our government lets it go on.

Maybe this family should see the tent city along the river in Columbia or just walk around the streets at night. Now that's homeless. They should stop feeling sorry for theirselves and stop the fake begging and get a reality check and do something to take care of their problem. And the answer is not more handouts. Go get jobs no matter the pay rate and keep a roof over your younf ones heads. With all those employable adults in that household there is certainly no reason for them being in this positon but laziness or the thought they are entitled to live off of the taxpayers. Last one to the youg couple. Stop lusting and get jobs and quit making babies you can't afford. Use 2 condoms since you won't stop having sex. Sex should be your main priority. Having a job and a roof over your heads and food in your stomach should be uno numero. What part don't your family understand? It is obvious.
