Some Residents Reject 'Improving East Hartford' Plan

Full story: The Hartford Courant

At the beginning of a public hearing before the town council, Mayor Marcia Leclerc disputed the notion by some residents that her plan would characterize the town as "blighted." Her "Improving East Hartford " program, which would use existing state laws to provide tax deferrals to home or business owners who increase the value of their properties ... (more)

It's about time! Every home in my neighborhood is lovingly cared for and has a beautiful front yard, with one exception. We are tired of the myriad of people who live there not taking care of the place. Check out Helm Road / Collimore Road / Sedjwick Rd. area some time and see if you can't spot the lazy bums sloppy property with a ratty torn up front yard with crap all over the driveway. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Well, some people simply cannot afford to improve their properties. Especially if they were literally FORCED out of their homes for several years, like 5 long years, like is the case with us.
The reason we were told we couldn't move back into our OWN home, was because the corrupt probate lawyer, said we shouldn't into our home, because we were DISABLED!
That's discrimination!
I see our taxes has gone up 10% even though we don't even have a regular job, but our property values dropped 30%.
How unfair, considering the only reason we ended up disabled to start with, is because we simply worked in East Hartford and the employer, UTC, insisted we lift some heavy piece of machinery that was at least 2/3 of our own body weight!

I think I'll file a formal complaint against the town of East Hartford!
I read that the property taxes were going to go down, not up!

typo... The reason we were told we couldn't move back into our OWN home, was because the corrupt probate lawyer, said we shouldn't "move" into our own home, because we were DISABLED!
That's discrimination!
The only reason we ended up DISABLED to start with is, because, we had our employer, in East Hartford, of all things, decide to break an OSHA law & force us to pick up a heavy piece of equipment only 2 DAYS after we joined their department at work!
That about a travesty of justice!

I think I'll contact the Department of Justice about this town! They simply don't care about the rights of Disabled People!

If you want to "improve" East Hartford, fire the present Animal Control Officer immediately Mayor LeClerc.

He absolutely refuses to enforce the Anti-Roaming Laws when a vicious dog leaves its property & attacks another dog!

Your animal control officer is also running stop signs on busy roads that pedestrians walk on. How is that making your town a "safe" town??
