Well, they're all stupid for being so nieve and believing that what they were doing was legal. If you know you make $50,000 a year, why in the hell would you even be interested in a house worth $660,000? That's what happens when your an idiot in these days and times.
She should go to jail and the others should get a nice backhand slap with some baby powder...LMFAO!

The whole thing boils down to greed. No one with a $50,000 income can expect to support a house costing $660,000, nor a mortgage payment of $6,700 a month! It's that simple! No one, let along a candy store owner, is that gullible. It's easy for him to blame her, but he went for it - hook, line and sinker! The house was hers to start with. If you reach for the brass ring with a "no income check" deal you KNOW you're in over your head.
TOTALLY AGREE !!

It's greed and selfishness that is causing this mortgage debacle !!

Give it another a year or two .. things will get much worse for the real estate market on LI !!

I have not doubt that was their plan. However, it does not answer the question of how a lender would approve this loan. Obviously it was obtained through fraud. The $660,000 question is, did the mortgage company know that the information was false or did they just not bother to check?

I see nothing but greed here folks... let's get real! These folks knew what they were getting into... all looking to make it big! Let me ask you... with $50k of income how did they EVER plan to pay the $5000 a month mortgage payment? Answer... they were going to turn them into boarding houses.... renting rooms... 30 people per house!
These are intelligent people... greedy and they really have no one to blame but themselves... they saw money to be made... and they jumped! I have NO compassion for them what so ever!

As an investigator that is still looking into these allegation, I agree, did the mortgage company know information on the application were falsefied. The $660,000 answer: It appears these were stated income, stated assets (SISA) loans. The lender is required to contact the employer to confirm borrower has been employed for 2 years or more and that there will be continuous employment. The lender may have not verified that they were employed. One employer listed on the application does not exist. Another borrower never worked for the employer listed on the application.
I agree that they all were in this to benefit themselves. Unbeknow to them, she profitted from their ignorance.

First things first Louies is my uncle, so of course some will say my opinion is biased. But I used to work there and during that tiem it was always business never family. And I can say he is a very upfront guy, to the point no BS. So before people are wuick to judge find out how many people are satisfied and repeat customers of his. And if your not a customer, go with Lou.
