I talked with a lot of people about this and they told me they voted the prop. wrongly because the misunderstood it. If you voted YES it meant NO, if you voted NO it meant YES. The way is was written was confusing and we thing they did it on purpose. Maybe this should be investigated by the PT even when your paper it's not longer fighting for anybody in LB. Maybe it should be told which pockets etc,etc....

Just bull-doze all of North Long Beach, and re-develop it. Right now it's all just trash anyway.

Sell your property, move to Arizona or New Mexico. I did. My cost of living is 30% of Long Beach. That's home ownership, gas, taxes, food utilities, insurance, etc. Let go of your 'stuff'.

Instead of forcing home owners out, LB should get rid of the "other side" of Atlantic. This is what people look at and call "trash" and also where the trash comes from. Low life motels, abandoned buildings and shabby apartments. Tax paying home owners should never be expected sell their property. Cost of living may be cheaper out of state but home is where the heart is!!

Instead of forcing home owners out on Lime Ave, why not force out all those ghetto apartments along Atlantic Ave..?

North Long Beach is a dump. i would rather have the adult bookstore and empty lots on Atlantic instead of more section 8 housing. This low income housing Is a plauge in this area, with all the crime associated with it.

Most people will never see that section 8 and crime are linked. So lets add more of it to wannabe upscale downtown Long Beach, And then wonder why the crime is so high, And why nobody with money wants to visit.

My grandparents lived in this area in the 60's and it was beautiful. Look at it now. When they put in the 91 freeway, they basically made that area a part of compton. This is what you get. Ghettoverit and sell and get the hell out.

So true. That area looks like some of the worse area of Compton, where you see row after row of apartments or in Watts the apartments complex are compare to the projects. Compton has good area and some bad horrible area like North Long Beach. I have notice where you see Section 8 Ok or apartments in Compton, North Long Beach, South Los Angeles, the Valley, Palmdale or Oakland is fill with crime. North Long Beach could be redevelop.

I'm for the redevelopment of this corridor. This is the best thing that's ever happened to North Long Beach. I would even love to see this redevelopment expand even more and remove the old apartments along South Street and Further up Atlantic.

The majority of these owners would love to move in a heart beat. Why would anyone live in an area surrounded by crime? Can they honestly say that they love to be in a crime infested neighborhood. Lets use commone sense this area needs a major overhaul and this development will help the area.

All I know is that the AutoZone on the corner of Atlantic and South will be expanding in the near future and will be A LOT bigger than it is now. It will not be on the same corner because the city has decided to put something else there. I forget exactly where it will be relocating to but I think it's a little further up (north) on Atlantic. So whatever is there now, of course, will be gone.

Though we have come to expect nothing from LBCity Hall but one failure after another, we better all hope that their thoughtless lunacy doesn't drive the uncivilized Trash into the few remaining decent Long Beach neighborhoods.

Many years ago I used to listen to a broadcast by the League of Women Voters on radio. Of course since it was woman's forum it had a spot at 11;30PM rather than at a decent hour for listening. They explained each proposition on the ballot and exactly what a yes vote meant and what a no vote meant so there was no confusion. They were completely non-partisan on this broadcast and helped a great deal on allaying much of the confusion by keeping the explanation simple and uncomplicated. I know the group still exists but I dont know if there is still a broadcast.

The council doesn't have the fund to build where Acres of Books used to be and they want to tear down more properties.

Ben Franklin defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Maybe we should build loony bin for Foster and his wrecking crew!

Amen to that brother. But, the idiots who vote in our City would just find some more fools to elect.

Well, it was never this bad back in the 80's when we first moved here. But then the city/police decided to start shuffling the city's riff raff up towards our neighborhood. Any efforts made to clean up the area were met with apathy or snide comments from the police. There is only moderate help from council members. Many people tried to fight to get the council to help but it was always 9 votes to 1 against helping the 9th district. I mean how many times does Atlantic at Bixby need to be paved when deteriorating Linden hasn't been paved since 88?
And attending meetings from the city always end up contradicting each other. At one meeting they tell us the Atlantic South corner would be condos, then shopping, then condos/shopping then elderly homes, and now section 8 again. Another time they admitted they're getting rid of Linden Ave all together and then back pedaled the next meeting.
When the city doesn't tell you a straight story, how can anyone believe the city's claims that they won't use eminent domain especially after laughing at us at the meeting where they refused to answer questions until they stopped recording the meeting?

They want to move it over to Harding side next to that strip mall or so they said before they said that lot was supposed to be a Fresh and Easy market.
