I usually prefer my meatloaf unadorned by gravies or toppings, but the meatloaf at The Wild Rover is simply fantastic. The onion/tomato/whiskey(?) "gravy" only makes the meatloaf better!
So far, everything I've tried there has been very good. I'm a huge meatloaf fan, and theirs is outstanding.

Been there 2-3 times for drinks once to eat. Had the onion soup and fish and chips. All fresh made. The piece of fish I got was huge and very good. Not frozen at all and freshly beer battered. Well worth the $$. I recommend!!!

Oh to only bring back the Whaler Room, the OLDE TOWNE would once again flourish in the times of NHL Hockey in Hartford!!!!!!!!!!

Went with my husband in May. Corned beef was excellent! He had the meatloaf and loved it too. Tried to go back this w/e and found that it's closed and will reopen under new management on 7/12. What a disappointment!! I hope it's as good when it returns.

Does anyone know why they closed or if they will be opening with the same chef? They made the BEST fish and chips that I have had anywhere in a long time!
That said, their service was awful, so I can see why they may not have been able to stay in business. Rough location too...
But great place to get a Magners!

i was a server at the wild rover, top server many nights. averaged 20% tips regularly, most likely not friedchxfans server, if management had things under control service could have been way better.
