FROM A LETTER IN TODAY'S PAPER:
"so Barack Obama can be coronated."

For those who have been listening to television talk show hosts and wannabe newscasters, and repeat common mistakes they hear, the word is "crowned" not "coronated."

Every time I hear the latter, I think about the masses of Americans who can't pronounce karaoke, a simple Japanese word that somehow comes out "carry okie" or something like that.

And I hear those who can pronounce "real estate" but not "Realtor." I've even heard otherwise well-educated people say "relator." And I always wonder why. Is it possible that they are all dyslexic?

And why does a 12-year old need a cell phone in school, where she should be studying rather than chatting or texting?

Mr. Conklin, you disgrace Irish men like myself when you use St. Patrick's Day to further your anti-Hawaiian agenda. You are nothing more than a spinster who springs from a dark corner to prey upon innocent people. The main point of your editorial was to slight Hawaiians, you should be ashamed to call yourself an Irish Man. My family would be more than happy to trade you in for the King.

What does that 12 year old expect for lunch? Steak and Lobster, with a Caeser Salad? Shut up and take your own lunch already. I grew up here and LOVED school lunches. Of course, I didn't have a cell phone to text my mommie and daddy all day with.

It's not mandated you eat school lunches. Your child can opt to bring home lunch that YOU feel is nutritious. I'm sure as a concerned parent you'd take the time out to prepare a delicious and wholesome lunch for your child in lieu of the dire situation at school for your child.

if I'm not mistaken the school lunches need to follow strict guidelines to make sure that all portions of the food groups are represented. and like Craig Watanabe said children are NOT mandated to eat the lunch. My son brings home a menu for the whole month and on the days he doesn't like the lunch he brings his "home" lunch. And if I'm not mistaken isn't the use of cell phones during school against policy?

Rodney W. Evans, the four people before me that commented on your letter pretty much sum up what I was going to say. I can't believe an adult would even write a letter to the Editor like that. people like you that whine and bitch about something that can easily be taken care of yourself are the down fall of this country. step up and make your kids damn lunch or shut up!

The point is that, No school lunches are not healthy and nutritious except for you McDonald's lovers. Schools should care about the whole child. We don't always have enough food to last the month at home so if My kid bis required to be in school then the school should properly care for and treat that child during school hours. This would stop them from producing a bunch of ignorant mokes out of our public schools. You disagree because you are one, sorry, truth hurts.
