Copy/paste this link into your browser and see how brave these coyotes are getting in southwest Florida. It's bound to happen with our exploding population, thanks to the baby factories of the current generation.

''You're not dealing with a predator,'' Greer said.''You're dealing with a domesticated animal that has been raised in captivity. No, people should not be afraid.''
It is a WILD animal and as a WILD animal, raised as a pet or not, it is still a WILD animal and subject to change at any moment. If it has a cub there would be more of a chance of it being dangerous. What kind of an idiot is this Greer??? How many times have we seen articles on "pet" wild animals who have attacked their owners?

I have to agree with say what, a wild animal is a wild animal. You can take the animal out of the wild. You can not take the wild out of the animal. Many of humans have tried and failed. Please do not feed the animals, use caution when going outdoors.Do Not shoot your gun in the night. You never know if someon is outside that may take your bullet instead of the animal.

Amazing how quickly the Medina SO is dis-crediting the story. I would think they'd tell people to be careful, cautious and watch your children and pets until they can investigate. Instead there saying " Aw heck ya'll,(spit) don't worry 'bout em there cats." Evenif it is a domesticated cat, it WILL still kill as sson as it gets hungry. Hey, wait a minute, are we not taling about Copley twp. here. Oh, that's right, I believe there is a farm out yonder where the Buffalo roam and they have(had) big cats, heck, even Tigers. Sleep well folks.()))) < claw marks >

Alligators in the sewers.

Maybe there's aliens invovlved?

At any rate, it's going to be hard to get a pic, as the alleged large cat almost certainly is nocturnal.

And if there are enough of these things for breeding pairs to exist, why aren't there more sightings reported?

But on the other hand, I didn't know 'coyotes' were living in Ohio. Maybe there's hope for the existence of Bigfoot after all.

There has been talk of a mountain lion in Copley for decades, seemingly. Maybe it moved a little ways to the west? Didn't like the open enrollment at CHS, perhaps.

There's at least one coyote in the gorge area too. Saw the fella last winter. I surprised him, and he surprised me.

He had dinner in his mouth and was standing his ground. I ended up reversing course slowly, ha.

This comment is coming from a person with 10+ years of exotic animal experience in the veterinary field.
NO animal, be it wild, feral, or domestic, should be underestimated. I have seen clients with every type of exotic pet you can think of and I wouldn't trust ONE of them to not chew my face off in the right (or wrong) situation. The same goes for little Fluffy that the old lady down the street brings in for treatment. I completely agree with Mr. Greer that this is not a wild, free ranging, mountain lion, if a mountain lion at all. If there is a mountain lion in Medina County, it is an escapee or was released by irresponsible owners after they realized a big, exotic cat does not make a good housecat. Also, if it were a mountain lion, there would be a trail of missing or dead animals in that area. They eat an enormous amount of meat!
Did this "attack victim" seek medical help? What were the wounds like? I don't doubt something attacked him, but if you ran across a mountain lion, and it attacked you, YOU'D KNOW IT!
On a side note, a story from WKYC stated that the animal was 30-40 pounds. The average male mountain lion ranges from 120- 140 pounds.

So, did the previous owners of this pregnant cat, declaw and defang the little cat while it was in the womb? Yikes!! Who's in charge of animal control down there!!!

Sorry...heard from animal lovers...seems this is cruel and unusual punishment for the cat.

Guess that rules that out.

Coyotes have been in Ohio for decades. The eastern movement of this species stops only at the Atlantic shore.

Rascally critters they are, but to hear a pack singing in the thin winter night air is to experience tingly wonder and fascination.

I live on Medina-Line Rd., I have seen super large prints in the snow with a stride that would be Great Dane-ish dog in size. My daughter and son saw a large cat on Copley Road this past winter. We have heard the odd screams(just last night in fact). They are not like the eerie fox screams either. And one more thing.. for years deer could be seen on my property at almost any part of the day-year round. They are mysteriously ABSENT this spring and summer. I have seen maybe 5 total all spring and summer so far. Last summer I'd see 5 every day. I do not know what scared them off, why they left but it is certainly Odd. As far as ODNR--worthless and irresponsible to use words like "pet" and "domesticated" relating to any big cat.

Doesn't this "cat" show up the same time every summer?

Then again, I hope there's a big cat (moutain lion, cougar, whatever). People always crab about the population of deer, but they don't realize it's because we don't have any natural predators anymore.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Leo

If you look closely, you'll see a black cloud hovering over a loved one's head. They'll find the smallest excuse for losing their temper or throwing a tantrum, so tiptoe around them or try to jolly them out of their filthy mood. If the situation continues you may decide that it would be better to get the inevitable argument out of the way than to pussyfoot around them any longer.
