It's nice to hear that police have confidence in the economy and are still investing. I'd rather hear that they were investigating, though.

The article says "Granite Rock Construction" but there's no such company. Was it Graniterock, or Granite Construction? Graniterock has a paving division, but it's called Pavex. So who was it?

Either one..does it matter? One of the two popped a gas line..lucky no one was hurt. Remember the construction crew that broke a major gasline..I think it was in Fremont a fews years ago..it frenchfried one worker and the surrounding four block neighborhood area was evac'ed. Scary!

It seems that people DO have it out for motorcyclist. Not only did the man have horrible injuries - but to add insult to injury the cause was initially blamed on him!

Riding a motorcycle or scooter when you are traveling alone or 2-up is green thing to do! Saves gas, and can reduce some congestion. I hope cagers learn that you don't need to drive a SUV to get a round.

Thank you for following up on this incident to confirm what every motorcyclist should know - we are invisible and there are those who deliberately trying to cause us harm.

Yes people DO seem to have it in for the cycling crowd in general.
It's a conditioned response.

Americans could learn much from European drivers. At any given time at least half the traffic is 2-wheeled AND they have far fewer fatalities! They SHARE the road. What a concept. SUV's are unheard of. With the narrow streets, even a mid-sized car is impractical.
Sure, on the freeways some people drive at the speed of light, but drivers cooperate with the tacit rules of the road, i.e. if the left blinker is on in the fast lane, get out of their way!
Oh, and don't even get me started on using roundabouts instead of 4-way intersections...

Granite Rock or Granite Constructiion? Sentinel, please print a correction. Also why sensationalize by going on to say "no fatalities" when there was not even injuries? Do thousands of people die normally when gas lines break?

What are the police "investing" in?

Drivers/riders/pedestrians, be aware. Even if you are being responsible, someone else may not be, and the car will always win regardless of faults. Have a good weekend. Get some sun!

True. There are many a' mean drivers out there. There are some very responsible cyclists, and there are some stupid ones, doing wheelies on the highway, splitting lanes at absurd speeds, and whatnot. Those types don't seem concerned with their own safety. Fortunately, most the commuter riders I see are the responsible types, and I like to leave plenty of room between lanes and my car for them. As a cager, it definitely helps the visibility when a rider wears loud colors, like those Rossi replica yellow and green helmets and bright orange Repsol replica jackets.

Want a ride? Thank you for pointing out that the commonality of blaming the motorcyclists first may,(and usually is), be "poor information during the initial stages of an investigation." I pray that Robert heals soon and God blesses him and his family.

I was up to the mountains for the week, met up with some friends that use to live here 30 / 40 years ago. I mentioned that we had a shooting or stabbing every week here in town now a days. They thought I was kidding. It was a very odd thing to express. I was shocking myself by telling them about our current events.

At this stage of the game it seems like teaching and showing our children about drugs and how to not be so foul and angry is about the only hope.

Yes that is what you would like to think ole' boy, but it is quite the opposite. Too many rude cyclists have ruined it for the rest.
