Full story: The York Daily Record

Christmas comes earlier and earlier each year, as evidenced by a greeting card Robin Wentzel gave a co-worker for Halloween.

If it weren't for the Pilgrims, most people wouldn't be here in the good old US of A to overcommercialize Samhain or the birth of Jesus in the first place. Don't forget the importance of Thanksgiving!

Retailers are responsible for pushing christmas to the shopper holloween just ended and its push push christmas and to heck with thanksgiving and the idea of family and friends gathering for a good hearty meal . Christmas creep as its called will push earlier into the calender year every year soon xmas items will be on display july 4th . Black friday will be here soon enough time for good human behavior to be pushed aside for fighting over cheap electronics or toys and road rage over that parking space closer to the store . Christmas has become how much can you spend or afford to spend . Lets not forget radio stations playing xmas songs and its not even thanksgiving and you wonder why people are sick of xmas before it even arrives dec 25th. Christmas is supposed to be about the birth of christ but over the years that seems to be swept aside by spend spend spend !! How many who lost their jobs are going to go hog wild with their unemployment checks or charge up the old credit card due to holiday pressure to spend hopefully these people will wise up and not spend beyond their means .

Christmas has been coming earlier every year because of Wal=Marts ever increasing greed for the Buck. Seriously ever since Wal-Mart opened they have constantly moved up the date when they begin with their Christmas displays. I have seen displays actually put out before the Halloween display. If wally world had their way Christmas would begin July 4th. It's time for the consumer to get back. Do not start your holiday shopping until after Thanksgiving. Because of the way Wal Mart over orders tings they would then be is a position to lower their prices or face a huge loss because they couldn't push their junk off soon enough. When wally world first started they prided theirselves on selling products only made in America. Now try to find anything there made in America. Good luck

The day AFTER Halloween, they were still moving pallets of trick-or-treat candy out of the warehouse to sell!

And Disney releases a Christmas movie into theaters less than one week after Halloween.

I like shopping early for christmas. Better to beat the crowds, and you can still find some good deals -- especially with "price alert" web sites. I've already made a list of the gifts i'm buying for my family at ZingSale.com , and now i get an email when any of them go on sale.
