FHP racks up window tint tickets

Full story: Northwest Florida Daily News

They're going to continue to enforce the window tint law, along with every other traffic law. The Florida Highway Patrol apparently is serious about window tint. Court records show troopers have written 334 improper tint citations, or about $23,380 worth, in Bay County since mid-December. They issued ... via Northwest Florida Daily News

Why is it then the police can have dark tint on there cars then. Double standards at its best. We have our fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters fighting a war and all these people can think about is tint. Get a clue too many people with nothing to do send them overseas to fight and become useful to society and not a hinderence it is a discrace what our government has become

Keep in mind that the men and women in blue have to approach the vehicles and if they can't see what's inside those vehicles, it creates even more of a problem and puts them on higher alert. Having tint that can be seen through puts the officer more at ease as they can see what those in the car are doing.
Before putting judgement on those that are assigned to protect and to serve you, put yourself in their shoes. If you were stopping a car for speeding or perhaps stopping a DUI case, if that person has dark tint, you can't see what the person inside is doing (maybe reaching under the seat for their weapon to fire on the unsuspecting officer walking up). If it were a member of your family stopping that car, you'd want laws in place that would protect them a little bit as well.

I am all for protecting LEO's however:
If someone is going to shoot a cop on a traffiic stop they will most likely have the weapon in their lap or seat to start with.
There are just as many, if not more LEO's shot in states that do not allow window tint as there are those that do.
Lastly the subject is double standards. If privite citizens can't have tint why should the LEO's?????????

For the comments left saying it is for their protection. How many people do you know that do not already have their window down by the time the officer gets to the car. Also, I do not think they should be able tohave dark tint, I want to know if they are actually in the car.
No fine here

Patrol Cars at Broward Sheriff's Office area all 35% or higher. Well above the standard. ONLY special ops cars can have dark tint. There is no double standard.....

I wish it was me with that stupid comment. Police need to be reminded that they represent the law they are not the law. So much for leading by example.

I understand those FINE, UPSTANDING law enforcement officers want to know what they're getting into when they pull a car over with dark tint, but MY dark tint helps keep my truck cool, along with keeping out prying eyes and possible sticky fingers.

If my truck were broken into, LEOs couldn't get there quick enough or find the worthless scumbag who might decide they want my stuff.

And I'm with the rest of you...if we can't have it they shouldn't either.

Becoming a police officer is not an easy task. But one thing you are taugt as an officer is safety first... an officer can use their intercom system to tell a driver to roll down their windows, open their doors, ect... so if the window tint law is all about safety, the safety of the officer is in that officer's hands and they are responsible for themselves.

Window tint laws aren't about safety they about revenue and control... safety of an officer is in the officer's hands... so officers please use common sense when making traffic stops!

If someone wants to harm an office they'll attempt it if their windows are tinted or not.

So what other silly laws do you propose? Such nonsense as you have written pre supposes that everyone with tinted windows is a danger to law enforcement - that is the dumbest comment posted here. Window tint laws have but ONE PURPOSE, that purpose being to generate revenue for the corrupt courts - NOTHING ELSE - tinted glass is NOT a safety issue. Why don't we ALL just drive naked in convertibles so the police can see we are no threat. YOU ARE SIMPLY NOT VERY BRIGHT. It'll be a cold day in Hell before I vacation in your dirty, nasty, mob infested, corrupt state again.

No, all your posts are the dumbest comments posted here. Ok, you say it is a revenue issue. Fine, maybe it is, but it is the law. Obey it. Oh thank you so very much. We hope you never return. Unfortunately it is probably as much of a lie as everything else you have managed to spew forth from your drug infested one brain cell of a mind you have.
I am sure while you were here yoou were just another of the homeless bumbs sucking of society anyway. No revenue lost with your absence.

Hey, lets fight, fight, fight! This law was passed by someone, other then police officers. I live in Ohio and the tint law is 50%, but who cares! I see all these people bitching about the law! Take it up with your legislators, not the police!
You voted for them and they pass the laws! Get a job!!!

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Cancer

You've had enough time to yourself lately. This is a day to focus on family, with all the good and bad that that brings. Crabs would much rather be at the top of the tree than down near the roots, but that's life. You might be smart when it comes to matters of the heart, but you don't know it all quite yet.
