Tamaqua Fire Leaves 8 Children Homeless

Terrible thing to happen to anyone. The good news is their landlord let them move right in to another 5 bedroom property so they didn't have to go to a motel. Also good news is that one of their relatives said to me that their Christmas presents were not in the house but he had them in his garage. I saw the local TV news interview online and the Pottsville newspaper story. Very inaccurate account of what actually happened and who was involved, it's hard to get the facts straight I guess in a situation like this, they write down whatever people tell them, even if the people just walked up a few blocks to see what was happening and decided they'd like to talk to a reporter and give their own account. Anyway, noone was hurt and that is the main concern. I wish them the best of luck and I know they'll be able to have a good Christmas because they have all of their children alive and well.

I Feel Sorry For The Children And Wife/Girlfriend But Not For That Stoopid Doper That Prob. Started That Fire, What An Idiot A With A Very Bad Tempur, Take A Car To This Backyard Mechanic And Get It Back With Personal Stuff Stolen Out Of It, Of Have It Towed Away By Stepdaddy Dirty George "US Towing" So Then He Can Give You A Huge Tow Bill. When HE Gets Hung Up Or Tired Of It. He Takes Like 6 Monthe To Change An Engine. Driving His 8 Kids And Wife Around On Late Garbage Nights In Tamaqua Without A Licence In A Chevy Suburben Having His Kids Run Out To Get Metal And Put It In The Vehicle At The End Of The Night Watch Him Go Into Fegleys For Some Coff. While He Talks To Himself And Look At All 8 Kids 'Ranging In Ages From 3 To 15" Piled Around All This Sharp Metal. What A Guy

These people need to be investigated by social services more carefully. Their sweet children live in squalor.

I am glad the community is giving presents to the children. I pray they will one day be placed with a loving, caring, CLEAN family. I pray that one day they don’t have to live in filth and abuse. DAd was just in the paper a few weeks ago for throwing a chair at one of the younger kids.

The parents are pathetic and don’t deserve such wonderful children.

By the way--These people have no business having 8 children. One of them is not even living with them, but in a home for unruly children.

Be careful of donating money. I say donate things that only the poor little children can enjoy. Make sure it can't be resold, or those children will have NOTHING!

Pray for those children. Please. They have it rough and it is not just because of this fire.

Yes It Is Sad I Feel Sad Because It Is Christmas Time And Their House Burned Down I Left That Out In My Post. But Like I Said That Man Moves From House To House And Buys A Beat Down Vehicle Every Couple Of Months With Govt Social Securiety Money That Was For The Kids But Some Day Soon Those Kids Will Grow Up And Realize That Their Mom And Dad Had Drug Problems And Stole Their Money And Wont Want To Be Like Him Or Her Growing Up In Filth And Abuse

Ya know, there was others living in that house, like his crazy "brother in law", the guys who wears the same Eagles sweatshirt everyday (including summer) and I think there was others. When the girl ran across my yard and into my kitchen yesterday with the three youngest screaming that her house was on fire, I gave her the phone,took the baby and wrapped her with a small blanket and brought the two boys into my living room, and put my sons slippers on the barefoot boy. I gave them cookies and milk, and woke my wife (she works 3rd shift). The fire departments responded in seconds. Eventually every relative they had walked into my kitchen and then out into my yard to give interviews to all the news people from the papers and TV stations who were wandering on and off my front and back porches and all over my yard like they owned the place. I have really hated living next to these people, because of there constant yelling, fighting, and abuse of my yard and field, which they use as a diaper pail and garbage dump, as well as a playground and parking lot for all of their many visitors. I would never want anyone to lose a home like that, but the minute the father barged into my house yelling various curse words toward his wife,I remembered how these people are. I remembered watching the 9 yr old with his younger sister and brothers pay for 2 shopping cards full of junk food with their Access card (welfare), I remember my son asking me how they could afford new bikes and every video game system on the market when only the father worked, and I remembered when the 30 yr old brother in law picked a fight with my 9 yr old son (I'm not very proud of my reaction). The good thing is that Andy Liebenguth was right on the scene to organize relief efforts so the kids will have a roof over their heads and plenty of food this Christmas. I assume the adults will also be very grateful for all the cash that all of us will donate. I am also very grateful for the people that did come to help were actually polite to me and my family. I also would like to thank Andy Leibenguth for all of his help, he is my definition of a real Marine and proof that God can use one person to demonstrate his love for us all. Also the fire departments were all very gracious to us and did a great job as usual.

Yes I Do Also Believe Their Stuff Would Be Sold OR Money Spent You Are Right About Those Parents, Infact The Presents They Prob. Have Are All From The Garbage From Tamaqua Citizens When They Go For Metal I Do Sometimes See The Kids And Parents Jump Out For Toys In The Garbage I Am Not Sure But I Do Believe He Is Involved With Children Services But If He Isnt I Am Going To Call Them After Christmas And Hope All Of You Who Know This Man And Can Provide Proof Like Me Please Call Because The More Calls About This Man Will Help His Children Live Normal Thankyou All

I know him as Butch. The good thing is that the children do care for each other. They have told my son that they hate their parents, that their dad was mean, their uncle and older brother (the 15 yr old) hit them and that there parents smoke a lot of dope. I am so tired of calling anyone to report anything in this town, so far nothing has helped. At least they're out of my neighborhood now (God forgive me), but I still would like to move. Maybe we can all get sleep now.

How dare you say this man is loving towards his children! He is a piece of crap that was just in the paper for HURTING one of them.

Look him up on the Magistrate Court dockets. He has been arrested MANY times for abusing his children (terroristic threats, harrasment , physical harrasment, etc.) and his dirty wife is no better.

I pray these sweet youngsters are saved from this. They really are cute kids who are polite and nice. I don't know where they learned their kindness, because they have a life of hell. It breaks my heart.

They need to be saved before they turn into what they see everyday. Time is not on their side. So sad.

Again, do NOT give this family money. Give them food. Give them clothing for the children. Give them gifts for the children. But if you give money, those kids won't see a dime!!

Wow, don't you people read and follow the Bible? Will you explain to St. Peter all this hatred for this family you all show? It's the Xmas season and you have nothing but seething anger for this poor soul. This family needs help, not criticism. Open you hearts and live according to God's Will.

If everything you said is correct, yet we are all supposedly worried about the children, then let's also respect the children by not trashing their parent. Children, you know, can be very worried about living in the shadow of a parent's misdeeds. If the mother is a responsible individual maybe there is a way to get her money (even gift cards) for food and incidentals instead of writing this option off.

I don't have to explain a thing to "Saint" Peter, I answer to God: I do read my Bible and nowhere does it say to accept people for who they are and let them do whatever they want to whomever they want. It does however say in James (read that entire book please)that Jesus was the last "priest" and that we now have a direct connection to God The Father through Jesus Christ. It doesn't mention anyone else in their I should be praying to or answering to. I have opened my heart, my home and my wallet to help these people as well as other fire victims here in my neighborhood and the area. I do pray for these people, and I will also pray (to God, not any of Jesus' friends)for those like you who love them but don't hold them accountable for their actions. May we all do the right thing in God's eyes, and may those great kids (especially David who is most responsible at age 9) have a great Christmas and a bright future. My upbringing was very similar, and yet I have turned out to be a fairly decent person (IMHO.

AND may God's will be done, and I will humbly answer to Him on the day of judgment, as will we all.

It is very hard not to voice an opinion in this situation for those of us that were involved with this family on a daily basis. A statement of fact is not necessarily a personal attack, especially for those of us that are generally concerned for the family's welfare. I know that despite what these people do as citizens, our community will do what we can to help them in this time of need. If you've read my previous posts, you know that I have put up with a lot of abuse from them as a neighbor, they had even told the kids to call me swear words because I yelled at them to stop throwing their dirty diapers and trash into my yard and field, as well as told them to stay away from my property when I am not home. I hope after yesterday's events they can maybe have a change of heart toward me and others and maybe re-think how to treat others who are different than themselves. I know I have said things about this family that reveal some bad behavior on their part, but I really do feel sorry for them. I guess I have felt sorry for them since they moved in a year or two ago.
