What a strange article. What are you trying to say?? I sensed an "Oh well, " attitude on the part of parents quoted. "We're trying to have fun." The party was put off for one day, it could've been postponed for one week out of respect for the family. I know, life goes on but in the light of this unspeakable tragedy, more subdued celebrations are appropriate.

God bless the child and his family and friends. What a horrible accident. words can not describe how they must feel. its a parents worst nightmare!!

What a very sad story. I am so sorry for the family. It just shows how fragile life can be.
People please be responsible and cut down dead and rotting trees. I see too many around town hanging over roadways that are tragedies waiting to happen (as well as a major lawsuit againist the property owners). Towns need to start being stricter about this issue. |

how terrible for the family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. May you find peace and strength to survive. |

So sorry for this family's tragic loss. It shows you how your life can change in an instant. We should all be very thankful for our little ones. God bless this family.

I agree; what exactly Is the point of this article? Even the title of it is off-putting. Life Does go on, I know that myself having suffered personal tragedy. But this stupid article (and it Is stupid) suggests that this "incident" (instead of the unspeakable tragedy that it is) will blow over before we know it. Focus instead should be on this little boy, and the Dangers homeowners inflict by not tending to broken and/or dead limbs on their trees that can cause harm. This article was nothing but a poor excuse to exploit this tragedy. Very uncomfortable reading it. My thoughts and prayers, and those of my family, go out to the family of Christian Gualtieri; may he rest in peace. |

Who was the moronic idiot of an editor that let that headline go through?
|
||||
|
The thought that this could have been prevented is ridiculous. Random things do happen and cannot be prevented. The Gualitieri's are very good people, my daughter has been in Christian's class for several years and his mother taught them in third grade.
Fault does not need to be found in everything that happens in life. The homeowner did no inflict harm here. i do agree, the article was not what it should have been, but I didn't find it inappropriate. |

this is life.
a terrible tragedy that no parent should have to go through; my heart aches for this family. prevented? not unless the world is prepared to live without trees. I wasn't particularly disturbed by the heading or the fact that the celebration went on. I guess if it were me, I wouldnt want my friends to be sad; I wouldnt want my friends to cancel something that they looked forward to. I wouldnt think that they thought less about my death because they went on living... What I do think about are ways to avoid this in the future. I take a second look at those trees around MY property and the places where my children play. But, today in the middle of my life that keeps going on, I take several pauses to think of this family and their loss. May they find some peace and comfort as they go through this most difficult time. |

Rest in Peace.

It was already mentioned, but the header was very poorly written and the editor should be ashamed for letting it get to print.

I totally agree. The quote was probably taken out of context (I do feel bad for the woman quoted as saying it because it looks insentitive). It shouldn't have been the headline. Very sad story. |

This article was in poor taste. Shame on the writer and the editors. My deepest sympathy to the family of the little boy.

My heart goes out to the family and the home owner where it happen. I have to say that if you look at the stump now you would have never known the tree was rotted. I know the area very well, and every home owner on the 3 streets keep there property well maintained. This was justt an accident that no parent should have to live. |

I would like to clarify my points in that I never assigned blame, nor suggested that blame lies anywhere in this situation. This was indeed a Tragic accident. That being said, Every year I have my property professionally cleaned - depris, dead/broken tree limbs ... it is just too dangerous. I recall many years ago, as a young child, a neighborhood boy climbing a tree and was killed when he tried to swing from a dead branch. It has always stuck in my mind. God has His reason for taking Home this young child; whatever that reasoning is. In the meanwhile, lessons are to be learned in many tragedys and this is no exception. This was a classic freak accident. However, clean/cut dead debris from trees and surrounding property-it is dangerous. |

I'm not sure why you replied to my quote with this comment. I was not blaming anyone. trees fall for a number of reasons. tragic loss. just makes me more aware of the trees in my yard. I'm surely not using this as a platform to tell others what to do with their trees. |

God please help and protect this family. The loss of your child is a pain no one should have to endure. Please everyone give your child a big hug right now and tell them they are special and loved.
