John Donne was more of a 17th century poet, with the bulk of his work coming in the latter half of his life. Most of his poems weren't published until 1633, after his death.

The literary tie-in is a bit of a stretch, but you've got to love that Jeansonne is never afraid to go for the creative (albeit shaky) metaphor.

It was all on the line last night at the Igloo. With the burger clown, Ronald er I mean Joey McDonald in the nets, perhaps the Isles might regain some minor sense of dignity after the humiliation in Carolina. But then, Okpoooso gives up the puck and it is behind the net and centered to Guerin and score. And score some more. Oh Noooo. Islanders humiliated once again. u let us down supa coach gordo. and u two bailey and okposo and da geezer, dougie weight. looked like dora the explorer on ice. u guys gave up three weeks ago, phoning it in until golf season starts. no pride. chico and the architect weep. u let us down fish frauds. it is soo sad and now tavares will never play for dis group of bozos. and the wrecker does not wreck. u let us down. i am going to be a columbus blue jacket fan next season. isles - u quit on us fans so now i quit on you and wrecker needs to use conditioner in his hair. that is all i have to say. well, except coach gordo your system stinks.

I like the part where Gordon implies that his team wouldn't have lost so much, if Ricky D. hadn't been injured. That is so funny! My side hurts I am laughing so hard...

yeah progress, the kids got experience the team hardly spent anything on salary (well under the NHL floor of 28 million) and now they will get either Tavares or Hedman plus another 4 or 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. They wont be good next year but they will probably win 10 more games and the system will be stocked with talent.

Well they wouldn't have lost so much had DiPietro been healthy this year. They wouldn't be a playoff team, but they absolutely would be a better team and have more wins.

If Tavares/Hedman are as good as advertised, then DiPietro getting hurt was a blessing in disguise for this franchise.

They will make the playoffs in the 2010-2011 season when they're playing at their new home in Kansas City. This they will do it without Rick "The Big Bust" DiPietro who rivals Carl Pavano as the next American Idle.Goodbye Long Island!

They tanked enough in the end (using Witt in a shootout) to guarantee at least the number 2 pick. But they ended up with the worst record and fewest goals score with an offensive guru as a head coach.

This was the first year in 32 years that I didn't go to 1 Isles game and I'm happy for it. After the Wanger got rid of his GM and brought on Snow to be his puppett, I vowed never to go to another game until there is a "finished product" in the front office. I will not let myself as a fan be treated like a puppet like so many others. It's a sad situation in Uniondale and unfortunately Wang treats the fans like he did his customers who bout CA products in the 90's

gamehenge, the products CA produced in the 90s were fine, it was the shareholders that were treated poorly.. u got it twisted.

theres a lot of haters on this comment page acting like they didnt expect a bottom 3 finish and are mad we have a great draft pick and a decent group of young players to move forwards with.

if you dont like whats going on stop READING about the team, stop WATCHING the team and go watch baseball season. i'm sure all you complainers are mets fans anyway.

yankee fans always made the best islander fans!! mets fans quit so easily.

One a few thousend people might not be much but they do go to games and oh the fact that the team is filled with young and up coming players and did as well as they did it Progress in my mind. Its better to build for the future then to go out and buy more Yashins to the team. Come back and write this again in two years when the team is stacked with great players and all are young.

Be afraid....be very afraid. Gordon's comments lend some support to the theory that the first or second pick will be traded away and we will pick another Scott Scissons. BE VERY AFRAID!

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Aries

One of the family needs plenty of love and attention today, but the trouble is that you may not be able to spare the time. If so, you'll be consumed with guilt and self-reproach, and this may become so strong that it casts a blight over the day. So do what you can to let them know you're thinking about them, but resist the temptation to berate yourself over things you can't change.
