Well this one looks like a win served up to the Panthers on a gift platter.
.It should be a regulation 3 period win for the Panthers..
Final score 4-1

Sadly, this could happen. however, any new owner would have to pay Broward County billions of dollars to pay of the Panthers' lease at the BAC. The taxpayers and tourists (bed tax) funded it.

...so Alan Cohen could make a mockery of hockey in South Florida.

Nonetheless, don't think it isn't possible because it is. It's just a VERY costly move.

More than anything else, new owners would come in to reshape this franchise back to winning form, and keep in the BAC.

Fans will come back. As soon as Alan Cohen and Michael Yormark are replaced. They are a disgraceful pair of clowns and their management of this franchise over the last almost decade has truly been forgetable.

BIG STORY I NTHE NHL TODAY. Brian Burke was relieved of his job as GM of the Ducks as he didn't want to sign a contract extension with them. Obviously the word around the NHL is that he headed to Toronto, but if Cohen were smart, he'd get Burke on the phone right now and try to lure him here. Dump Jacques, give Burke absolute authority and finally get some long needed respect around the league that will help them attract elite players.

Why hire Burke? Have you not seen what he did in Hartford and Vancouver? Both of those franchise suffered huge losses with him at the helm (with one even being relocated). Anaheim was built by Bryan Murray before he left for Ottawa. Burke doesn't understand the salary cap, is faithful to old buddies to a fault and suffers a severe lack of grading talent.
Take a pass and let him further run Toronto into the ground.

I don't see them leaving South Florida either. I just think this kind of article is indicative of the state of the franchise nation-wide (Canada included, of course). We as fans notice the circus-like atmosphere at the Bank. I live in PA and vacationed in FLA this past March, and took in three games. It's a fun place, but you can tell hockey is not the focus of the folks who run the organization. As a player, seeing that what you are paid to do is not the primary focus of the organization paying you is not only demoralizing, but provides you little motivation to do anything other than earn a paycheck by doing the bare minimum, eg. Nathan Horton.

As I've said before, good luck to DeBoer. He's a great coach, and doesn't deserve the situation he's in. I can only imagine the golden bull-shat JM and Cohen and Yormark fed him.

I agree. We already have one of the best GM's in the league and we're on the right track.

One of the best GM's in the league? Based on what? His team's record of success? The number of great trade deals made? The great free agent signings he arranged? The absolute great deal he made with Toronto where the guy (Kilger) has never reported to the team - a guy who would rather retire than play for a Jacques Martin team?

Besides the hiring of DeBoer (and the jury is still out on whether he'll be as good a coach in the NHL as he was in the Jrs), what else has Martin done that distinguishes his greatness?

As for being on the right track, ranking near or at the bottom in goals per game, PP%, winning % after scoring the first goal and shots on goal, not to mention in the win/loss column, are not indicators of success or even being on the right track to success.

Then again, you also probably thought Keenan was doing a great job here too, that is until they fired him and your bosses told you to start writing about how Jacques is the next coming of Scotty Bowman!

No, you're taking those remarks out of context. But since you don't use your real moniker anymore I don't expect you to.

Useless information. First of all, the Panthers make a profit every year so no need to go elsewhere. Secondly, they are building a new practice facility (12 million) on Incredible Ice property, something they own. Anybody would move if the price was right but I think the Panthers leaving is a stretch. If Martin said he was moving, then I'd be celebrating.

The selling job has not worked in that market. I actually think Tampa is OK. But South Florida? No way. There are ownership issues with the team right now, as well. I would not be surprised if the team goes for sale over the next year. I would fully support relocating this team

Panthers need to get the hell out of S. Fla. It's amazing listening to sports talk radio and out of 100 calls you'll hear maybe 3-5 Panther calls. It's really pathetic. What good is a franchise in a market that they have to reach the Stanley Cup Finals for anyone to pay attention!!

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Libra

If someone owes you money and you're beginning to think that you'll never get it back, this is an excellent day to chase them up. They may not cave in straightaway but at least you'll have had your say and done what you can. Watch out for a tendency to lose your temper, because although this could be quite dramatic if you're usually the soul of equanimity it could work against you if you become aggressive or unpleasant.
