Surprised? Hello Charles can we get someone who knows what they are doing as GM please. The next mass exodus will be the season ticket holders from last year not renewing. Thank you Islanders for making us once again the laughingstock of the NHL! Jon Sim-good job!

The Islanders didn't gauge the free agent market well and it's a rookie mistake by Garth Snow and the organization. Quite frankly, as a fan, it's an embarrassment. How do you let a team lose it's top 2 scorers and top scoring defenseman and 25 goal scorer in the same day?? Fair..or unfair...it's the result that matters, and the Islanders failed miserably.
Now their PR department will turn on the machine have you believe they are loaded with young talent. Don't buy the BS. Wang...do us a favor...sell the team or move it and end the misery. You can come up with 80 million for Yashin, but nothing for any other player? A 15-year contract for a goalie, and too cheap to sign a top-notch player? You fire a seasoned GM to hire a goalie with no experience (he's a nice guy, but that's not the point)? You get your asses handed to you on a platter and then say there are "still" players out there? Like whom....3rd and 4th liners and defenseman with a -28 rating? Will Michael Nylander save the day? Not likely...but the PR machine will have you believe good times are ahead. You guys get more publicity for the Ice Girls than you get for being a well run team.
I'm a life-long fan, think that Nolan is a great coach and Snow will hopefully learn the ropes soon, but this evening you have a huge PR problem on your hands that needs to desperately be repaired. Islander fans are sick of incompetence and a lack of foresight. Sick of having 1 good year...then several bad ones. And sick of talking about the old days, to be honest.

Way to put all the eggs in one basket and just pursue Smyth. Maybe Garth should've called Jim Cramer and played "Am I Diversified" before the start of free agency. Dumba**!

When Jon Sim scores 60 goals this year, you'll all be sorry! We are considering signing him to a 20 year contract and making him captain.

Yashin - Bought out.

Poti - Signed with the Caps.

Blake - Signed with the Leafs.

Smyth - Signed with the Avalanche.

Just what is going on with the Islanders and their incompetence and just as equal inability to keep their players? And worse yet, they now got smoked on that deal with the Oilers back in February!

Smyth, like all of us fans, waited all day for Garth to bring aboard a big-name player to prove he's got a plan. Come 10pm the available studs were gone along with many key contributors from last year, so it's hard to blame Smyth when Jon Sim's picture is on the front page of your website for 8 hours. Take care.

This could be the worst day in Islanders history. The team is depleted, as is the farm team. There are no real future stars . No Crosbys,Ovechkins or even Parise's.No one wants to come to the chaos and turmoil that has been this team for 15 years. Ryan Smyth could go anywhere. Why come here with all the BS ,when you can go play anywhere? And that goes for everyone. The Isles are in a position like the Mets were a few years back. They have to over pay players to make them come here.
We have a few players who may be good in a few years ,but we are really screwed for a long time.
Rebuilding would be ok if we had some blue chips coming soon. But we all know, they are scattered all over the league now. A guy like Drury knows he can make a fortune in ads and billboards, etc in NYC. Whats he going to be,a poster on a nassau bus? C'mon Islander fans, we need a real reality check and this is from a die hard, life long, give my blood for the team,Islander fan.The fact is,we are the 3rd team in a 3 team town and our market is shrinking. The fan base is gone and nobody has faith in the team owner or management. Nolan is a great coach and he wouldnt be here either if he had other offers. They had to hire a gm who was out of the game for a decade and then replaced him with the goalie. We are such a joke to the hockey world right now ,that the spirit of Potvin,Gillies ,Bossy,Tonelli,Trots and Smitty ,all of them,is like ancient history. the uniform that was the pride of the nhl,the character and face of the nhl for 5 solid years is now ,a face of mockery, a joke. It makes me sick....
They can make some panic moves and hope to put some sort of team on the ice.... Bertuzzi, souray, maybe Guerin and even Peca would be an upgrade, Otherwise its Rookies and whats left of last years over achievers...By the way Rangers fans, you by No means have a solid team ,a good team yes but Nylanders 83 pts = Drury and Gomez wont have anybody to pass to . Beside, Scott Gomez is NOT worth 7 1/2 million a year. Lou Lam knew it and would pay it. The rangers will however and now have a defense that makes as much as one of the centers. Whatever, this is not about the rangers. Its about being a fan of a once great franchise run into the dirt by a long string of frauds, fools, bufoons and felons.Bill Torrey what happened to your beautiful baby????

Sorry for the ranting and typos... Tbell you hit it on the head. Smyth would be our capt right now if he saw a few good moves early in the day. But he looks at our pathetic roster and it was a no brainer...hell,he even took less $to go to Colorado...

Latest from AP.Ted Nolan, the NY Islanders' coach, was last seen yesterday walking, fully cloathed, into the Great South Bay.Search boats, helicopters and divers were reported looking for him but so far without success. However,Garth Snow, the team's GM,expressed his conviction that Nolan was merely practicing holding his breath and would re-emerge on Fire Island and, come April, lead his team to Stanley Cup finals.

What is going on in Uniondale? I sure hope Wang/Snow/Nolan have some sort of plan to deal with this "exodus", or it is going to be a very long upcoming season!

JULY 6th,AP
The NY Islanders' management today issued a new statement correcting their GM's earlier statement. It now appears that Nolan ventured into the murky waters of the Long Island Sound NOT to walk on the bottom but to gain a better view of the fireworks in Manhattan...

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Scorpio

Self-worship is easy and obvious, today. The real prize is when you turn from the mirror to see that others think just as highly of you. Take in all this love and amazement, and store some away for lean times in the future. Someone may give you an unexpected compliment later in the day, but don't let them know that it caught you off guard. After all, you still have your reputation as an egomaniac to uphold!
