Lots of talk, few deals for Blackhawks

Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon faced some rather large obstacles as he tried to pull off a blockbuster deal before Tuesday's NHL trade deadline, including league parity and no-trade clauses. Full Story

i think the hawks are going in the right direction, but they need a "real" coach. denis savard was a good player, and is a "company man" they should have swallowed their pride and brought back mike keenan, before he signed with calgary.
in the meantime, i will continue to support a first class organization, the CHICAGO WOLVES!!!!

Woulda coulda shoulda. I love listening to the GM the day after the trade deadline about all the players he was trying to get. A substancial offer for Richards? My guess is Richards didn't want to play for the Hawks and from the quotes down here is Dallas wants to win every year...Take what you want from that....Let's finish this year and get ready for next..

IT IS A NEW ERA FOR THE HAWKS,GIVE THEM A YEAR OR MAYBE 2,IF SAME OLD AFTER THAT,THEN STICK A FORK IN THEM.
DON'T FORGET,THEIR ENTIRE TEAM FROM THE MID 90'S WAS UNLOADED BY THAT EX-MAPLELEAF PULFORD!!!NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY FOR A PERENIAL LOSER.IF THE HAWKS START TO WIN AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL,THEY WILL ATTRACT THE TOP TALENT INSTEAD OF OVER THE HILL PLAYERS.

Tony, that is what scares me about what is going to happen when the season is over and they try to get a top notch free agent or 2. Sure the Hawks have the money but their reputation is that they don't want to win. And I still believe that Tallon is a big talker. I really do not think that there was a substancial offer for Richards that was why they didn't get him. And remember who is running the Dallas Stars - Brett Hull. I will wait and see what Tallon is able to do in the off season but for his sake and ours as fans I really hope that we can get a few top players.

Wouldn't it be nice to hear what the offer actual was? All these GM's are always saying that they were in the running. Sometimes I wonder what we offered that got turned down. Tampa got very little in return for Richards and Henrik. They received two forwards that have never lived up to there potential and a draft pick.

We have plenty of forwards that have not lived up to their potential.

I would have sent Nik, Ruuto, a prospect and a pick, and I believe it would have been a better trade.

I think sending Ruuto to Carolina was a back up plan for not being able to ship him to Tampa.

And Dallas' backup goalie included in the deal hardly justifies it.

Tampa no longer has goltending to go with their lack of Defense.

Tim: Don't you believe Dale when he said he made a substantial offer?I think also that TB was looking for a goalie in the deal and Mike Smith has some NHL games under his belt but he's an unknown as far as can he be the #1 there looking for. Bulin being hurt didn't help matters either and as Bryan stated about knowing what the actual offer was we'll never know. Rchards wanted to win now. Like i've said before Tallon gets a pass this year.

There's really no point in crying anymore about who the Hawks didn't get...I think i let most of my frustration out yesterday.

Also to Bryan I agree I thought TB should've received more than they did. Right now Lightning GM and coach are on the hot seat more than ever after that deal....Sorry enough about TB...This is a Hawk forum..GO HAWKS!

They haven't had it since Bulin left. They spent too much $$$ keeping the offense together when you have to build from the back end out...

Tony I don't believe that Dale made a substantial offer for Richards. Also what Tallon said in the Daily Herald today about Richards was different that was reported yesterday by the NHL, that Richards said the Hawks were one of the teams he would have played for. The deal that Dallas gave was better. And you are right I let out my fustration yesterday, lets see what Tallon is able to do on the off season with the free agents.

Bringing back Keenan is a worse decision than when Pulford put himself behind the bench.
Savy really cares about the franchise and he is a very good coach. He knows the game very well and seams to be interacting well to to the players. No player has expressed negative fealings towards him, which happens on several clubs.
Remember, Savy took over this team when there appeared to be no hope. Along with Management, Savy is doing a really good job of turning this team around.

The bottom line for Richards was that he has a chance to win right now. At the end of the day Richards had the option to pick and choose what team he wanted to go to from the list he submitted no matter what the offers were Tim...

They don't need Keenan, he would not relate to the players the way he used to. He is doing ok at Calgary, not that much better than they were before he got there. And go ahead and support the Wolves, that are a good organazation except that it is AHL, not the NHL. Even during the lockout I could not stand to watch the slow AHL games.

Lets hope, as unlikely as it seems, that they somehow sneak into the playoffs this year. Doesn't matter that they wont go anywhere. Let Toews and Kane and especially Seabrook and Keith get a feel for the intensity of an NHL playoff series. And next year, just "making the playoffs" won't be the goal.

the best coach they could get would be Chris Chelios when he retires... he could attract star players to come play for him. Like Olympic calibre athletes .
