Who to play? Vokoun or Anderson? Anderson or Vokoun? I think DeBoer is slowly losing his mind. If this pathetic excuse for an NHL team can only muster one goal and a measily 5 shots in the 3rd period of their most important game of the last 8 seasons does it even matter who is in goal? We could have had Brodeur back there during the last game and we'd still would have lost. Goaltending is not the problem right now. It is lack of offense. I know there is nothing DeBoer can do about it, but to harp on goaltending is barking up the wrong tree. It doesn't matter anyhow. Once again this team needs a miracle to make it into playoffs and just like past seasons management is already looking for their next scapegoat.

Ownership, and management has betrayed this market and NHL franchise from day one..
Hopefully even the most devout Rah Rah will come to understand this, and also understand the many posts that have exposed the sham of Cohen, Yormark, and Martin, are from fans who want to see a franchise that they will be proud of, but are intuitive to the business and foundation problems of this franchise..
It will always be like this, until Cohen and Yormaek are gone..

Congrats to Columbus for making the playoffs last night and cementing the fact that alot of us already knew:
the Panthers are the worst organization in the NHL this decade.

Vokoun or Anderson - working on line combinations - seems like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I like PD and what he has done, but he is starting to sound crazy - I don't think that 98 times out of 100 times you play a game like that - with 5 shots in the 3rd period, you get two points.

Tight game and Vokoun let's in a soft goal, even the Philly announcers said he wasn't ready! Wasn't ready? When is he going to be ready?? Put Andy in. I know they have to live with V. one more year and they don't want to hurt his ego, but, hey it's a must win. We should have gotten a point and maybe an overtime win. Andy looks good these days, go with him. It might be moot however if Montreal or Rangers get a point. When V. was going bad DB left him in too long in plenty of games.

Let me REPEAT Vokoun in an average goalie who ALWAYS lets in a soft goal in critical situations almost 2/3 of the time-GO OVER his last 8 starts and you will see-four of those were game/momentum changing goofs-Anderson plays much better under pressure and the team just seems to play better with him in net.Anderson has better technique, doesnt get caught out of position by being to aggresive or flopping around like a salamander. With a team with no offensive punch the goalie is the most important player under pressure.Vokoun has let in goals at the post in 5 games-he corrected it and same thing happenen with Philly-Even the goal he let in against Pittsburgh went thru his 5 hole. Its always something with this guy-Anderson does not let in soft goals every game and that is why I think he should be played rest of year.Martin way overpaid for Vokoun.Management only keeps Panthers to get ad revenue for Sunrise Sports Entertainment.NO COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING TEAM.Cant get this on WalMart budget!

Regardless of what you think of Vokoun (and I don't personally think he's an elite goalie), goaltending is not the team's Achille's heel. The team is on the playoff bubble (with a slim chance of making it) simply because they don't score enough goals. They particularly don't score enough Power Play goals (a conversion rate of just 16.4, which ranks 24th in the league). The Panthers rank 11th in the league in Goals Against Per Game, with a 2.71. in fact, they rank that high despite being dead last in the league in Shots Against Per Game, averaging 34.7. Perhaps even more telling is the fact that they win at a rate of only .615 (ranking 23rd) when they score first. I think it's less a matter of giving up goals and more a matter of not being able to answer after their opponent scores.

Having said all that, I would agree that if they had a guy like a Luongo (or an elite goalie) in the net they would win more games. But there are only a handful of elite goalies like that in the league and many of the 16 teams that will be in the playoffs don't have someone like that on their roster. Those other teams prosper by scoring goals, something a team can do when it has talented goal scorers on its roster - the proverbial "go-to guy".

Question?
Does Martin stay if they don't make the playoffs & are unable to sign Bouwmeester? I mean, I wish I could do my job as poorly as he does and still keep my job...

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aquarius

Someone is being bombastic and overbearing, and you don't like it. You aren't prepared to take their behavior lying down, but standing up to them is likely to result in a rip-roaring row. Well, it seems that the row is almost inevitable, and perhaps that's just as well because it won't do you any good to swallow your anger or tolerate this person's boorishness for much longer.
