I read your article on Tim Thomas and what a great article it was! However, once again you should have watched the NHL All star game as only two goalies were mic-ed. It was Rick DiPietro for the East in the first period and it was Manny Legace for the West in the third period, not Tim Thomas. Neither goalie was wearing a microphone in the second period.

If you know Tim Thomas and Manny Legace, you would know that Thomas is laid back and very mellow and probably would not be very entertaining mic-ed, while if you knew Legace, you would know he was the perfect guy to be wearing a mic. It was a good call by the NHL!

Bob, thanks for the nice words about the article. Thomas was mic-ed up, however. It wasn't for U.S. TV (Versus), which might be the source of the confusion. He was mic-ed up for CBC's broadcast from Canada. A few other media outlets have also reported this. But I have made mistakes before that I'm working to eliminate. Thanks for reading.

Actually Bob, Thomas is only laid back when it's not that important (like an all-star game). I've seen every game he's played with the B's and he's pretty old-school intense.
Ask J.P. Dumont, who tried getting cute and running him into the crease. Dumb move.
Thomas laced him as he lay down in the net, Dumont whined about it for days (it was great).
Timmy's probably the most intense goalie the Bruins have had since Lemelin, you don't go in his crease unless you really like waffles.

Dos Equis, yeah, on the ice is one thing, but off the ice the guy is amazingly laid back. He is easy going and very personable, having played against him and talked to him off the ice, he is a genuinely nice guy, but doesn't get excited very easily.
I have yet to meet somebody that will say anything bad about the guy, really mellow character.

Steve, it was a great article and Tim Thomas is deserving of the recognition. Believe me I wish I could still watch the games on CBC, but that is one of the few things I miss about being back home, and the Tim Hortons.

Glad to hear from someone who knows him personally, he's a true Cinderella story and a great inspiration to anyone struggling to get in the big leagues. I think he may be the first player ever to get the 7th player award 3 years in a row (the award for the Bruin that made the biggest difference during the season).
Keep up the good work Steve, if anyone earned a few good cannonization articles, it's Tank.
I hope he hangs in there 'till his 40's, he's the real deal.
