Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom is a finalist for the Vezina Trophy as the "goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position as voted by the general managers of all NHL clubs," it was announced today by the NHL.

With this teams offense, he is the reason we were as good as we were. He deserves this. Not saying the other goalies dont deserve it but Mason for one had a great offense in front of him and kept teams away from his net.

Mason will win this trophy as well as the rookie-of-the-year award, in my estimation.

Judged:

Much deserved honor for Backstrom. He clearly did more with less compared to the other two. I think Mason will get the rookie of the year, but GMs have a history of wanting to reward veterans moreso than younger players so I think Thomas will get this one. A very good argument can be made for any of the three.
