I can change this story in two seconds, and have it written for us.
Insert Panthers for Oilers Insert Martin for Lowe Insert Olesz for Penner It may actually be worse for us, nobody was head hunting Olesz, we just thought he was great. |

Here we are on Sunday, November 23rd, about 6 weeks into the season, with nearly one-quarter of the schedule having been played, and the Panthers today sit in dead last place in the NHL - East & West combined. Only 15 points earned through 19 games, translating into a point rate of about 65 points over 82 games. At the current rate, this team will finish 20 points behinds last year's team.
We hear talk about getting additional help at center, but the only way to achieve that is to trade the team's scant valuable assets. Face it, Peltonen, McLean, Dvorak, Zednik and Olesz aren't worth much in the trade market. Even Horton has limited value, as he would be seen as a "reclamation" project and would likely not garner a first line center, which is what the team needs. Of course, there is the need to move Bouwmeester, but ask yourself, who will play those 28-30 minutes a game, including PP & PK, that he is asked to play night after night? Also ask how much will that further weaken an already depleted defense? Fact is, even the expected trade of Bouwmeester will be nothing but a wash for this team - returning some offensive strength at the cost of a weaker defense. But the bigger question is why did any of this become necessary? Why didn't the team pick up any number of talented players in the offseason,? How could they have totally misjudged a roster that almost everyone else recognized as being significantly deficient in offensive talent? As for Bouwmeester not signing with the Panthers and them needing to trade him, consider this. Bouwmeester, like nearly all of the quality free agents who have no desire to sign with the Panthers, probably made that choice NOT because the Panthers are a losing team, but rather because they are operated in a losing manner. |

Garbage fill article that takes the heat off of the Panthers..Gorten puts this garbage as the top article, to remove tha article that causes embarassment to the organization from focus., and less comments..
This article belongs as other Panther news, NOT top exposure.. Gorten is a house mouse, Russo was so much better when it came to the NHL, and much more talented than Gorten... |

I’m tired of the BAC being taken over by fans of the Rangers, Wings, Flyers etc. I’m also tired of being afraid to enter the men’s room for fear of being bullied at the urinal by these rouge fans. Here is my plan to turn around this organization and to reclaim the BAC:
Like I have written before, no one wearing an apposing team jersey would be allowed in the building. I understand that this will cut our already putrid attendance numbers in half, but I’ll give you a solution to that later. A brief questionnaire will be completed by everyone entering the BAC on game day. If your hockey aptitude is higher than a 5th grader you will be turned away. If you have the DirecTV hockey package at home and watch other teams play, you will be turned away. If you have ever attended a NHL game in a real hockey market, you will be turned away. To makeup for the lost revenue I would adopt the NASCAR idea and sell advertising on the player’s jerseys. Each player could also be sponsored by a different company or Parkland family. During intermissions, live infomercials could be held at center ice. Finally, eliminate the need for Zambonis by installing synthetic ice. Cardboard cutouts of fans could be placed in the empty seats in case the camera ever pans the seating area. Crowd noise can be pumped in, and of course, I’ll be ringing my customized cowbell! Problem solved! |

Great post WAM, even after the Panthers chose to stop at signing Cory Stillman they still could have picked offensive help after the free agent frenzy was over.
Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but the day the Maple Leafs put Kyle Wellwood on waviers I posted that the Panthers should jump all over that. Here was a young guy who despite having an off year had proved he could put up points on a bad team and was worth taking a chance on. Instead Wellwood goes to Vancouver where despite spending a little time in the minors, he now has 8 goals, more than any of our overpaid forwards. The only hope I see for the team this year is for everyone to finally get healthy, for McCabe to continue playing like he did this week and to trade Bouwmeester for forward help and actually win the trade. Failing that our best hope is to win the draft lottery and finally hit on a star scoring forward that way instead of drafting a D-man or another Horton. |

Bonjour!!
OK, It's time to start thinking about the 1st Overall pick in 2009: John Tavarez, Oshawa Generals - Center. 6-0, 183. Shoots Left. 191 Games Played. 157 Goals. 172 Assists. 329 Points 201 PIM. Allow me to read from a Memo I recieved from Cohen & Yormark yesterday, ci'vouplay: "JM, as we are clearly going to posess the 1st Overall pick in the 2009 Entrey Draft, I want you to immediatley begin reaching out for other GM's and offer that pick. WE ARE NOT PAYING 1ST OVERALL PICK MONEY EVER!! Here are a few suggestions. 1. Trade out of that pick for a few lower round picks, minor league "prospects", and 35 yr-old journeyman "who can add leadership". 2. Draft & Sign Tavares for 4 years, cut all other salary, surround him with zero talent, lost 70 games, and in 2012, when Tavares demands out of SoFla, trade him for a few future draft picks, minor eague "prospects", and a 35-yr old journeyman "who can add leadership". "Keep an eye on Louie, Iceman & VanSmurph. We're pretty sure they will continue to spend money with us indefinately. But please monitor over the next 8 years of "rebuilding". Always, AC & MY |

You took the words right out of my mouth. The same can be said for Weiss and Horton. These deadbeats would be lucky to play on the 3rd or 4th line on any other NHL team. |
||||
Funny very funny stuff |
||||
Wellwood would have been high my list as well. They said he was out of shape, but as Don Cherry pointed out (and he is a huge fan of Wellwood), how good a shape can you get into with torn groin muscles (hernias) and a foot injury (which he got playing soccer in an effort to be more fit). Wellwood has one of the best pair of hands in the NHL - a great passer and a very good scorer. He would have been a very interesting fit between Stillman and Horton. Down the road he also might have fit in well with a kid like Frolik. Also imagine this team keeping Jokinen and today having the center position being their strength, with Olli, Weiss, Wellwood and Kreps. Then you go ahead and trade Bouwmeester (if he doesn't want to stay) and get players of the same caliber as Ballard & Boynton, and perhaps even better. Honestly, it wouldn't have matter which direction they would have gone in re-tooling the roster. The bigger point is that Jacques decided to stand pat with guys like Peltonen, Dvorak, Zednik and McLean who filled spots that need to go to stronger offensive players who can put the puck in the net and be good playmakers. |
||||
So instead of all of this we coulda stuff..I ask once again, why not just for this season, not bring Shanahan om board?? He could get 23 goals, is game ready, fills a now need, great in the locker room, and maybe a future position with the team.. |

Belak on waivers! Gorten, if you had any integrity, you'll be writing things like the following:
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/flapanthers/20... This circus just keeps getting better. |
||||
My crazy mixed up friend. I have seen you make this comment many times. What gives you the impression that Shanahan would come here. If he is indeed game ready, he's waiting for the break..or even a couple weeks after to sign with a playoff ready squad. No way, no how does he come here. Miraslav Satan of Pittsburgh is tearing it up and never got a sniff from the Panthers, yet he was right up their alley. He was coming off a terrible season, and ready to sign cheap. |
||||
|
The article above is proof of why no player with self-respect wants to come here. This idiot Gorten is writing articles about Edmonton, when we have Olesz, Weiss and Horton being overpaid on our team. Look at what JM is doing, humiliating players who actually care. Belak is not used enough and has nothing to do with the problems this team has, and yet Martin calls him out like this??? I hope someone picks him up and we are left with a bunch of softies like last year. Ridiculous!
BTW, I may just go to the Herald board. At least they do some real reporting. |
||||
That makes me mixed up?? Poor choice of words.. I happen to be right..The team needs him NOW!!! |
||||
Seraph Goretn places this garbage on top, and does not post the Belak waiver story.. Belak is angry at the Panthers and posters here should go to the Herald site and see why.. Gorten continues to confirm that he is a house mouse..Russo makes Gorten look like a high school cub reporter.. |

"Just got off the phone with Jacques Martin who says the team needs to be accountable for its play and that he had left numerous messages for Wade starting "at 10 after 12. Then I called him an hour later."
"Spoke with Wade and he's pretty upset about the whole deal. Says "they brought me down here to play,'' although, he's not playing. Belak's minutes are way down, he only played six-plus minutes last night and didn't get in at all in the third period. He thinks this stems from him skipping optional skate Thursday in New Jersey (he thought he was playing that night instead of being a healthy scratch because of Kamil Kreps) and for not fighting and sticking up for Nick Boynton after he got beat up pretty good in his scrap with Milan Lucic. ''I tried to fight guys there and they refused to go,'' Belak said.“What do they want me to do, fight and take a penalty? We were trying to win that game. I'm not a rookie.'' |
