it's a shame that they could get 93 points and be out...so sad.I feel so bad for the players, my sales rep and anyone who works for the team.

They have nobody to blame but themselves for not being in the playoffs. They let way too many points slip away, squandering 3 2 goal 3rd period leads losing all 3 games and blowing a 1 goal lead in the final 3 minutes against Columbus and coming away with no points, and a terrible home loss to the Thrashers last week. They could easily have 97 points and already be in.

Fire Martin.. end of story. we've tried it his way for 4 years, and no results. going from 11th to 9th is not improvement. There where 2 goals at the start of the season. SIGN BOUWMEESTER AND MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.. They failed on both. I won't blame DeBoer, he did what he could with what he had. Horton is a bust, Vokoun is average, and Bouw is gone.. what now??????

Been saying that for 8 consecutive seasons. As it stands now, 9 seasons in a row will probably get better odds in Vegas than them making it next year.

The only team that managed to miss the playoffs more than the Panthers were relocated halfway through the streak. That team became known as the New Jersey Devils.

Its kinda sad when you play in a league where more than half of the teams make the playoffs and you still can't do it over the span of nearly 10 years. Glad I haven't paid for tickets in almost 3 years.

Does Huizenga still own this chronically underachieving joke of a hockey team ? If so he, and they got what they earned and deserved...NOTHING !

NO!! Unlike Huyzenga, Alan Cohen doesn't care about winning.. say what you want about Wayne, but when the Dolphins won 1 game a few years ago he took full responsibility and brought in Parcells to turn things around, and they did.. Alan Cohen is a joke of an owner, mainly because he lets that twat waffle Yormark and ass clown Martin run things... it's a joke, and not a funny one.

everyone involved in this mishap of an organization pretending to be actively seeking any sort of future within them regarding potential playoff rewards should be taken out and maimed.

Aw chripes you guys stink! You let the fans down, you let yourselves down, and mainly, you let the NHL down. Panthers= Suckers! How can you as players face any other team and admit you suck and thats why you have no playoff experience. We do not deserve to be in the playoffs because Martin, Cohen, Horten, and all you other sissies are so afraid of facing challenges. SCREW IT!

you can def blame martin for certain things but its not entirely his fault. his hands are tied by the owners. the owners dont let him spend any money. like the bouwmeester trade. everyone is blaming him for not doing it, but ive heard from the inside that he wasnt allowed to take any more than $1 million back in a trade. whats he supposed to do? that basically means all he could get for bouw is 2 crappy "prospects." he decided to just keep bouw for the remainder of the year to make a run. now the jokinen trade, im sure the same guidelines where in place but he couldnt get more from ollie than 2 sub par defensemen?

bottom line is nothing will change with this ownership. they dont care about the on ice product, they only care about advertising and sponsorships. trust me, i know. like one guys said, at least huizenga brought in the best in the business and paid to get his organization back on track. you'll never ever see this ownership and management do anything like that.

...and they wonder why they cant fill 2/3rd of the arena where half of what do get is fans cheering for the away team. Perhaps they also wonder why the local TV would rather air women's basketball instead of a panthers game. Get a team that can actually make it to post season sometime in the next 10 years and people will start wanting to see that.

Its very sad actually.

Alan Cohen could possibly be the worst owner in professional sports. This team is a joke.

There is a salary cap and a floor in the league. Martin chose to give bloated contracts to Bryan Allen, Peltonen, Horton, Weiss, Olesz... all unproven players, the only one that has been improving is Weiss. His free-agent scoring acquisition was Stillman (17 goals when not hurt), and he gave up Jokinen (70 points/season) for Ballard (solid), and Boynton (gone). He was not able to lock up Bouwmeester (his responsibility), and now will lose him for nothing. He has rebuilt a terrible franchise into a mediocre one.. congratulations

Well, that's that.

In a league where two more teams make the playoffs each year than miss them, what this team has accomplished -- 8 straight seasons without a playoff appearance -- is nothing short of amazing.

If seasons could be decided by coin flips, you'd expect the Panthers would have had four, maybe even five appearances over that span. Unfortunately, the league makes you play the game. My sincere congratulations to the incredibly, almost unimaginably, inept and perfectly incompetent management team behind this total fiasco of a franchise.

And that praise doesn't even account for the fact that this franchise in now TWELVE FULL SEASONS removed from its last playoff game win. Not playoff series win, mind you -- that happened a full THIRTEEN SEASONS ago.

I honestly don't think any other group could PURPOSELY be this unbelievably bad. The management of the Washington Generals would have more success here.

Congratulations, Panthers. Sincerely. You teased us for a while there; I actually thought I might finally have stopped supporting this franchise just two seasons removed from their return to a modicum of success -- aw, shucks!-- but my complete lack of faith in this team's management has thankfully been restored by seasons end. Phew!

I fervently hope this franchise's complete lack of commitment to winning, complete lack of commitment even to REBUILDING, and complete lack of personal accountability or even professional behavior is FINALLY obvious to even the most ridiculously ardent rah-rah fans by now.

I hope you will support those of us who will vote for change the only way we can -- stop supporting the Panthers with your ticket and concession purchases until you ACTUALLY WITNESS definite; positive steps towards CHANGE. Me, I wouldn't be suckered into any "we'll make the playoffs or give your four tickets free!" deals -- which means NOTHING to this franchise as they ALWAYS have empty seats (accept maybe when the Habs are in town during snow-bird season) and this BROKEN PANTHER'S PROMISE won't cost them a dime!! It will probably MAKE THEM MONEY as otherwise empty seats might be filled, and those dolts who show up might by concessions.

I won't buy season tickets again until they make a PANTHERS PROMISE to RENEW MY SEASONS TICKETS -- FOR FREE -- EVERY YEAR -- UNTIL THE CATS FINALLY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

That's the promise loyal fans deserve. It's the only one they can make that would show they REALLY were willing to put their MONEY where there MOUTH is.

Rest in peace, Panthers fans. Enjoy another long Panther Players' GOLFING season.

Almost. Unbelievable. Almost makes you want to cry.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
