Hmmm, the game summary I saw had him assessed with a fighting major and unsportsmanlike conduct, but nothing about being the instigator which I thought the league planned to crackdown on. Strange.

Jack: Ballard is the one who dropped the gloves first so Sid can't get called for instigating when he's not the one who started the fight. Ballard made the hit and knows someone's gonna come after him so he turns and drops the gloves immediately. I don't understand what the unsportsmanlike call on Sid was though. If it's for the visor thing like I think it was last time, then Ballard should have gotten one too cuz he still had his visor on when the gloves dropped. Should have just been five each and be done with it.

Thanks for the clarification. The highlights I saw just showed the hit and then the fight (tickle-fest), and not Ballard initially dropping his gloves. That would explain it.

It was unsportsmanlike conduct because it was a clean hit.
