Scott, we will miss you.....now, go and have fun.

Happy Retirement Scott! You certainly deserve it. The NHL will miss you! Thanks for also being involved with children with autism. My son still has fond memories of the Panthers game you & your wife organized.

Mellanby was one of elite "grinders" to play in the NHL. Congrates Scott on a great career and thank you for your time as a Panther.

My son loved going to Panther games, though the horn when they scored bothered him.
One game, Scott got into a fight, and my nearly nonverbal son yelled, You bad Scott!! You go time out!!" ;) (Hope Scott sees this) |

Class all the way. Thanks for 1996.

Scott Melanby is a stand up guy. In the lockerroom on the ice and with the community. He wasnt the fastest or the craftiest or the sharpshooter that we love to see, but he was a hard worker. He set up nice plays, played well defensively and turned it up a nitch when he had to. He was missed by South Florida when he left the Panthers and he will be missed by the NHL. Good luck to Scott in whatever future endeavours he may do.

Possibly, my all-time favorite Panther. Great hockey player, we need more like him.

Scott - career well done! We will miss you. Panthers are not a professional hockey team, poor gutless players, coaches and upper management.
Absolutely a "grinder"... Skated 110% every time he stepped on the ice. Congrats on the career. thanks for 96 "year of the rat". |
Thanks, Scott for all you did for the Panthers. If they were smart, they would hire you in some capacity as the young players could learn so much from your leadership and never say die attitude. Thanks again, hope to see you back on the tennis courts and golf course again in Coral Springs.

Oh...for the good old days...........when the Panthers were so much fun to watch...

Congratulations to Scott Mellanby! Great and friendly guy. Never wanted anyone to make a fuss for him around town (Coral Springs). Good luck and enjoy!

Scott Mellanby will be missed. It took a long time for me to get used to seeing him skating around in some other team's jersey. He helped steer this team, when we were absolute nobody's, with genuine pride and total class. He was willing to kill a rodent for us and turn it into rallying cry.
We haven't seen that from the Panthers since. Best wishes, Scott. |

Great leader. Great motivator. Great players. All around great Panther. Mellanby didn't always have the talent that guys he played against had, but he made up for it with grit, heart and intensity. I was sad to see him go, but we'll always have the memories of when he was here. Those were great some great times for Panthers hockey. Enjoy your retirement Scott. You earned it.

Scott is my all time favorite player. The game will miss him.

Well at least we got rid of that dead weight Luongo. What's that you say..., he's into the second round of the playoffs in his first season away from us? Well, at least we got Bertuzzi for him. What's that you say...?
Don't laugh. We traded Mellanby to St. Louis for David Morisett and a conditional draft pick. Morisett is probably detailing cars in Fresno right now while Chris (the next Lindros) Wells probably manages the night shift at an adult video store somewhere in twiddle-my-nuts Arkansas. What ever happened to all the touted stars like Shvidki, Novoseltsev, Taticek and all the other high draft picks? It's as if they vanished into thin air. I think an 8 year old could have made better choices. I sure hope Frolick pans out because Stewart and Auld might be working the drive-through together at Tim Horton's next season. |
Well put, Hacksaw.... Mellanby was a good 'character' player and solid Captain for the Panthers. Ever since he left, we've been licking the cellar floor with no hope in sight. Too bad Panthers' Management isn't retiring. What they did to this club is criminal. |
The guy was a journeyman player....he played like crap here and played better when he left....he was however, a good person....he skated like a klutz...
