Finishing last has NEVER been a sure thing, and it still isnt. Thinng is, I care about the kids who are already Islanders.

And think about this: Who would you have rather of drafted, Dale McCourt or Mike Bossy? Only one of them went first overall.

I love the fact that a bunch of these kids including Okposo will be headed to Bridgeport for Playoff experience once the Isles season is over! The future looks bright!!

Great back-to-back wins! Goals are being scored. Players are checking. Plenty killing is strong. But soft third periods in both games. Devil's out shot the Isle's 16-2 in the 3rd and 17-5 by the Coyote's. Important factor, no third period meltdowns and 4 points earned!

Understanding that the Islanders have had a tough season. The fact that the organization is finally building for the future should give it's fan's something positive to look forward to next season. With solid draft picks along with some off season veteran acquisitions to help complement the ever improving nucleus of young talent; maybe the county will finally get things going with the "Lighthouse" project. Long Island needs this franchise. There's just too much history to allow this franchise to relocate.

No offense there Jay, but you ralk about how people need to "Learn how the NHL draft works!" but then you say things that are NOT how it works lol. Bottom 3 teams are in the lottery? Where did you get that number from? Not in hockey, my friend. Fact is, any team from 26-30 (the bottom 5 teams) can take the first overall pick, and any team NOT in the playoffs- that is fourteen teams- can win the draft lottery and move up four places.

Finishling last helps though. If you finish last you are gauaranteed no worse than 2nd overall. Finishing last would guarantee us Tavaras or Hedman. Jay I know how it works.

I think the Islanders should pick a goaltender in the upcoming draft. Not having even one 20 goal scorer and having your team's points leader being a defenseman means they need yet another goaltender more than ever. After all, they have no depth behind Danis.

I love the energy from the kids. I hope they keep it up, but lose at the same time. I know this sounds a bit defeatist, but it is practical reality. Where you pick in the draft can make or break a team. Remember Scott Scissons? The Isles could have had Jaromir Jagr if they had lost one more game.

Its a crap shoot, Stamkos def didnt live up to the hype but other #1's have one thing is for sure we need a scorer more than a 7 foot tall defenseman...
The isles have 6 picks in the first three rounds so there is no reason they cant get lucky a littler later in the draft too. Only time will tell but at least they are planning ahead for once.

Gotta love what you see out there. Fun to watch these kids....I think the key to that whole story was what Danis said "We're all competing for a spot on this team". That's invaluable. Go get em guys.

Nice win for the team. Great weekend. However still want to finish last and have the best opportunity of drafting Tavares. He seems to be a notch below a Sid and I will take that. Also if I remember correctly if we finish last the worst position we can be in is to draft 2nd.
This team needs to stay on L.I. everyone must support the Lighthouse project!
