'Canes Claim RW Samsonov Off Waivers

I think the canes made a smart move picking this guy up... give him some quality playing time with some half decent players and you just may have a real scoring threat everytime he is on the ice !

We needed help on D. THis was a good move. He is not much of a scoring D man but that's ok. he can play strong D and has a past with Laviolette. Coach must know something about him.

I think you have him confused with someone else, as Sergei Samsonov is a left wing. I saw him make his début last night against Boston, his original team. He did really well considering he flew from Chicago to Boston that afternoon, got delayed and arrived 30 minutes before warm ups. He’s fast, has good hands and looks to be someone Carolina can definitely use while there going through this injury phase. I think he has the potential to be one of the 6, if he plays like he did last night. He had a rough time in Montreal, but who doesn’t? This year Chicago really limited his ice and then benched him for lack of production. How do you score when you aren’t given a proper chance to play with other experienced forwards? Looks like a cheap purchase for Carolina, one that may work out good for everyone involved.
