Minnesota Wild looking to re-sign Brian Rolston before NHL entr...
Wild general manager Doug Risebrough said Friday he will offer Pierre-Marc Bouchard a multiyear contract after July 1, and that re-signing Brian Rolston is his top priority.

No great loss if Demitra doesn't return, especially if The Wild can get SOMETHING for him. Not so sure about FedorYUK and please no more Simons....Still don't get the love affair with Skoula...he simply is terrible, just look at his +/- stat.! Rolston looks good at timesl, and at other times, seems invisable. Bouchard is worth a multiyear deal. Last but not least, I hope they get the goalie position improved, as that was a major reason for their early exit from the playoffs.

Bouchard is a solid player and his numbers keep improving. I doubt they will be able to lock him up for a multi-year deal but it would be great if they did.
There is nothing wrong with the Wild goaltending situation. In fact, they have one of the premier goaltending tandems in the league. They did not fail to advance in the playoffs because of goaltending, they failed to advance because of defensive breakdowns, because they can't score, and because Gaborik didn't step up to the plate. Rolston yes, Demitra no, Martin Skoula's got to go! |

I watched all the games and when the big save was needed, Backstrom didn't get it done. He was 8th in goals against and save percentage during the season, which is only average. He was better last season, for some reason, so maybe he can rebound next season, with some hard work.

One of the reasons Backstrom wasn't as good this season as the one before, was that the defense just wasn't as good. Injuries and age definitely hampered them. I think Bergeron will help, but that's just a start. Too bad the Wild now seem to need both scoring and defensive help. Bummer.

So it's all coming apart this summer huh. I think Dougie's right to favor Rolston over Demo, and I think this is a sign Gab's is getting moved too. But if he loses Bouchard I want his head.
On the last note, I say yay for radio guys coming back, boo to the TV guys, they suck. |

I would prefer Rolston over Demo any day, but obviously one or the other will not be back next season. Doug...please resign Butch to a multi year deal. Gaborik should also be resigned. Glad that Doug resigned Burns when he did.

Keeping Rolston is very important for the Wild. He's consistently good and durable. Bouchard needs to come back as well, and it might not be a bad thing that it is a one year contract, that way the Wild can further assess his long-term worth. Demitra, your "friend" Gaborik could take less $ to keep you here, but ...
