Drury's goals bring Rangers close to playoffs

Full story: Newsday

Without question, this has been a disappointing season for Chris Drury . He was named captain of the Rangers in Prague and the Rangers burst out of the gates 10-2-0. But like the Rangers, Drury was inconsistent, shifting between center and wing, struggling not only with his performance but with the leadership issue through a disappointing season.

"When it comes down to big games, he always steps up," Lundqvist said. "When the game gets more important, that's the way he is." (In refrence to Drury)
Anyone else think that it might be smart to step it up all season so they are not fighting for their life for the last spot for the playoffs?

It is my understanding that Chris Drury gets paid to play hard every game. Now I feel like I'm getting ripped off if it's a game where there's nothing on the line for the Rangers-

Thats what i never understood. Its obvious that they can play at this level when absolutely necessary, so why not do it all the time? Its like mediocore play is acceptable 90% of the time? Maybe if everyone gave it their all 100% of the time they wouldnt have to work so hard to overcome these holes they put themselves into. Ya know, just a thought...

Is hockey still considered a sport? Do more than a handful of people care about it? Just curious..I know hockey was gayedup many years ago. Also, I havent seen it on tv in years..do they have a radio contract or do you just have to read a small blurb about it in the paper the next day?

Thanks for you help!

@ Effigy -...you were saying no big deal about Antropov? Another game winner!

I'm waiting for a big, "Thank you and your dirty Flyers, BCG!"

Cannot wait for the next 2 games.

Rangers struggled to win at home vs a Canadien team lacking both power play defensemen, that had played a hard game the night before vs Ottawa, and was playing their third game in four nights. Long term, it may have been best to lose this game and be eliminated from the playoffs so that maybe someone would consider replacing Sather.

Drury has been pretty dry throughout the year when asked about various losses and problems. The guy just tries too hard, I think. We really need him to be the gamebreaker he used to be to go anywhere.

Yeah, i know. He played really well last night. The guy can score and he's got size !!!

Sometimes he just doesnt look like he's trying hard, but last night he looked solid. I kinda figured someone was going to say "hey, look at Antropov now". I love it when they prove me wrong :)

Amazing game. All they gotta do is win Thursday. Why can't The Rangers play that great and try that hard evrey game? They are getting paid to play shouldnt they try evrey game? By the way it is nice to see the Rangers getting the front cover. They should be on it more often. Hockey is the best sport and people need to realize it already.

Any way Cablevision can make a buck. Unfortunately, to get the entire logo to fit in the screen, you couldn't see what was going on in front of the net.

It's BS.

I would like to thank your dirty flyers BCG. Now we just have to beat you on Thursday. If the Rangers lose it will be hell on wheels because there is no way I will feel confident about the Rangers season being on the line in Philly.
