"There are a lot of assets we have that are going to fight hard for jobs. Nothing would be more satisfying than to have our own group of young players we've developed and drafted make our team and take us to where we need to go."
No sh|t Sherlock! The Bears should be so lucky

I'm still not sure about the Lang trade, but trusting Dale and Rocky more, as time goes on.

Not ready to let go of Havlat, either. I'm looking forward to seeing Beach play to see if he can do his thing in the NHL.

Campbell says he's pretty damn sure he'll play better than he sang the 7th inning stretch. Guy's funny!

The stuff we have to look forward to gets better every day and mirrors my excitement level.

The Hawks should quit relying on Havlat. He is a terrific player, but just to prone to injury. Plan without him, if he can contribute, great, but plan without him.

No doubt the Hawks are a better this year. But keep in mind so are the Red Wings! I firmly believe the Hawks are playoff bound, and anything can happen once you get to the dance. Nik must be traded to avoid any locker room issues. Ring, Ring! It's the Kings calling they need a netminder. Taking a box of office supplies in return would be better then a falling star pouting on his way out.

I still would love to see the Hawks get rid of Khabby and get a good solid forward for him. Maybe the Kings will be willing to trade for him, not too sure what other team out there has that type of cap space. I do think that Havlat is going to have a huge year, remember it is his contract year so there are millions on the line for him. I can't wait for the season to begin. They have to make the playoffs this year.

Too bad Lang had to go and not Havlat. Oh well, if he's healthy he'll be worth the cash, but if not...

Tim & Tim (one of you isn't in here yet)-

Why Lang and not Khabby? Obviously, something to do with contracts and money, but, absenting that, keep Lang and let Khabby be inconsistent somewhere else. Just me and what do I know.

We all know what kind of year the Kings had last year..If you were the Kings GM do you really think Khabibulin would put you over the top or even get you into the playoffs? and your rebuilding on top of it.With his salary and inconsistant play I wouldn't touch him....Now if your an Ottawa that's a differant story...

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse. I cannot believe they have not moved Khabby yet. There must not be as big of a market for him as anticipated. I have said it before, and I will continue to say it.... It's not worth locking up 12 million dollars in goalies.

Lang move is fine by me. I thought we over payed for him in the first place. And lets not forget that we are acquiring a lot of picks now, and with our drafting skills and newly hired scout (Joe Queenville) trading old talent to get under the cap and get picks is a great move by this franchise.

I have been down on Havlat a lot, but I am excited for this year for him. It's a contract year, so we may see the best of Havlat throughout his entire career.

I am happy they went out and got a new strength and conditioning coach. It sounds like this guy is doing a good job preparing our boys for the upcoming season(kane bulked up, woohoo). I felt that a lot of the injuries from last year were a direct result of being out of shape and unprepared for the 82 game grind of an NHL season. Bigger and Stronger will up the win column because the talent is there.

Ramrod, the Tim from Canada is missing, but I am sure he will be back soon. Look I am sure that the Hawks are going to be dumping Khabby soon. I can't see them paying that much for 2 goalies. They paid Huet starting money, and they need a forward so watch Khabby will be gone soon. I am still holding out hope for Havlat. I think that he will have a great year. We need for the Hawks to make the playoffs, nothing else will satisfy the hunger of the fans. I am still unsure about a few guys, Barker and Egar. Oh well wait to see what happens when they start training camp.

The dumping of Lang is the first stupid move from Tallon and the Hawks. We have always had problems with centers and Lang performed well...he will be missed, and his goals and assists will not be equaled. Tallon should of dump one of his goalies, kept Lang and brought up Crawford. Poor decision particularly after we suffered without a center for several years....

I don't think Kabby and Huet can co-exist. Trade Kabby now for something of value. Havlat is too valuable to let go. If healthy, he makes them deep and balanced. Also, what kind of trade value does he have at this point? The Hawks wouldn't get a player of equal skill in return.

Why trade khabby now? He has no value now. He has more value to the Hawks at this point. Yea I know the cap hit is tough but in a month or two LA or Ottawa will realize their goalie situation isnt a good one and then they will offer up something of value.

Beisdes what good does dumping khabby do now?

Dump khabby and go after Forsberg or Sundin? maybe Shanahan?

Khabby is off the books next season so... If Tallon can have a commitment from Forsberg, Sundin or Shanahan at a reasonable price there is no point in dumping Khabby because there is no UFA that could really help the Hawks other then the 3 vets I mentioned.

Maybe trade Khabby to LA for the rights to RFA O'sullivan???

Just having cap space doesnt make the Hawks a better club at this point.

A fellow, passionate Hawks fan isn't going to get slammed by me, but, I doubt that stupidity is part of Tallon's Lang move. You know that the whole top end of the Hawks organization was in on the decision. They're isn't a snow-ball's chance in the hot place, that they're going to mess with the Karma and PR momentum they've built by simply dumping a player of Lang's value.

Something good is yet to come out of that move and it isn't necessarily coming this year, but it's coming! Crawford will get his chance again this year, but that won't fill in behind Khabby if he goes. We already have what we need.

Don't sleep on Bolland! He's primed to have a great career. I think he is more than capable of picking up the slack left over from the Lang trade.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
