What's impressive here, is that they use the word "established" when talking about the players the Panthers want in return. That atleast makes me feel a little better about the possibility of losing Olli. Lets face it, we're most likely going to lose him. I don't see why the Panthers are looking at getting so many young players though. We have enough to start a whole new team. Consider that we have solid potential first liners like Horton, Weiss and Booth. The oldest in that group is Weiss at 25. He has a good 15 years left. However, he has proven to be inconsistant. We can't forget Olesz, who plays and scores when he wants to. He's a solid 2nd liner. Young guys like Campbell and Kreps take up space on the 4th line. There's also and unlimited number of guys coming up such as Michal Repik, Michael Frolik, Kenndal McArdle. At times this year, we saw brilliant displays from Shawn Mattias and Tanner Glass, along with some grit from David Brine. We can't expect Mclean to play this entire season the way he ended the last one. Nor should we expect anything different from an under achiever like Radek Dvorak. Peltonen... Stumpel... it's been nice knowin' ya. Bring Anthony Stewart with you on your way out of South Florida.

Without a doubt, we should focus on re-signing Bou. 15 goals last year. For a defenseman that's truly amazing, especially one who laces em up as a Panther. Guys like Mike Vanryn, Noah Welch, and Cory Murphy have been fun, but it's time to get rid of all the injury proned idiots that this team has put on the ice. We have a few guys in Rochester that are getting me a little excited. Michael Caruso, Keaton Ellerby and Martin Lojek all look promising. But without a doubt, we need to dip into the free agent pool and grab a good quality D-man.

So where am I going with this? Allow me to sum it up. Trade Olli and get the value your asking for. A first round pick and TWO ESTABLISHED NHL PLAYERS. To all who read this, please note the capitalized words in the previous sentence. Sure up this offense. We can't rely on Horton. Lets get two 30 goal scorers in this lineup. Resign Bou. Not doing so is just... stupid. Unload all the crap on this team: Stumpel... Peltonen... Stewart... Murphy. It was a nice story having the undrafted talent of the shortest defenseman to ever play in the NHL, but... in the end he didn't help us go anywhere. Honestly, we shouldn't touch the goaltending. Let Vokoun take this team... Anderson is a solid number two.

Lets all remember, that we will also have a very weary Richard Zednik back on the ice. We don't know how he is going to handle being back on the ice. My gut says he's going to be fine. But we can't listen to my cut, because he'll be listening to HIS neck...

"Established Players" for Martin usually mean 3rd and 4th line cast offs like Kilger, Cullimore, Belak and so on. Sure they are servicable, but will they actually make a real impact or fill any gap that Jokinen leaves? In the past Martin has tended to gravitate towards the ham and eggers. Maybe he'll surprise everyone for a change and actually get equal trade value? It will be tough. I can definitely say that draft picks will do nothing for us this season. In fact, the more draft picks we get the more it will scream "rebuilding season" again. And with our lackluster scouting department, not too many fans will be excited about draft picks. If "win now" was ever needed for a team, this one needs it.

You make some good points. I like Olli but I expect that he will be traded. I think new blood on this team and a new combination of talent, combined with the new coach, may be exactly what this hockey club needs. We need some solid vets to help out some of our excellent young guys like Booth and Weiss.

Also, I think the club owes it to Olli to let him know what his status is and whether he'll be here next year or not. Olli has been a solid part of this club and he has performed well overall.

These are exciting times for true Panthers fans.

trading oli would be a mistake. He's a 35-40+ goal scorer every year. Bring in some support on the top line, get rid of stumple and we can be in pretty good shape. The second line of Weiss, Booth and Horton was solid.

Get Oli some help..don't trade him.

It's hard to imagine Jokinen going, but it's important to get full value for him if he does. I think if there's any way to get Malkin, they should try. The Pens have no first round pick, though. Could Malkin/R Whitney for Jokinen + extras be possible?

Maybe the Panthers actually rob another team in a trade for a change.

Please do not trade Olli,at the moment you have only him and Horton that have the potential of 30-40 goals,he is good in power play, just get someone good in his line and you will see Playoff here we come.

I'm not opposed to keeping Olli. In fact, I have little fait that Martin the GM would be able to get good stuff in return. That all being said, without question he needs to be stripped of his "C".

I feel a first round pick and a 3rd line center at best. That will be the deal come Friday.

Jokinen will be gone and this organization will dissapoint us fans once again.

A COUPLE of key pieces??? What are you smoking, and how long have been watching hockey? This team is more than a couple of players away from being competitive and respected throughout the league. I'm not sure if they will ever be respected because of where they play and everything that comes with that, but they can be competitive with major changes to the roster.

This is the reason why Martin should of been removed of all his positions. The coach is going to be loyal to martin and not Oli. So he wont be given a fair shot. Why would you make a comment about keeping his C? DeBoer needs to evaluate for himself and it need to take more then a week to make a comment like that.

I agree with those who have said no more draft picks.....we have more than enough young players already. It's time for A. Cohen to start writing some checks...how about trading Jokinen and some future draft picks and some cash for a couple of STAR players.

If there were to be a trade, Iwould look to Vancouver to see one happen. Joikinen for 1st round pick (Kyle Beach)+ Byron Richie and Brad Isbister or Tyler Pyatt would be nice.

Great strategy, raise ticket prices and trade away the fan favorite, the only guy that scores consistently. And lets trade him for 2 guys that will be good for 10 goals a year. Are they trying to destroy the fanbase on purpose?

Good point...

DeBoer is already proving to us that he, like Martin, has no testicles.

Another "yes-man" in Cohen's circus of overpaid minions and spin-doctors.

THIS ORGANIZATION IS A TRAIN WRECK!!!!

Frankly, I hope they trade Olli to a contedner so he can finally sniff the playoffs.

In the parallel universe that Cohen, Yormark, Martin and now DeBoer live in, this is a step in the right direction!

Um.... no thanks? Jokinens potential 40 goals for maybe a combined 13? We need atleast a 20-25 goal scorer and a quality 3rd liner. Also, I think Shawn Mattias deserves a spot on the roster this year. But we need someone around the same age as Olli with the same kind of stats as Olli. And I atleast want him in the west. Don't want to be reminded of him when he scores 58 goals his first year off the panthers... honestly, we're going to get screwed and we all know it.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
