Joensuu's physical presence excites Islanders

Full story: Newsday

On a night when the Islanders called up five prospects from Bridgeport and had a total of 10 who spent some time with the Sound Tigers this season, the one who excited coach Scott Gordon the most Saturday night in a 3-1 victory over Tampa Bay was Jesse Joensuu.

Milbury is gone lets just forget about his bonehead moves (seriously though who would pay him to give commentary, he proved he knows nothing about hockey).

Joensuu is going to be trouble for most teams once he bulks up a little. Probably wont be much of a scorer but will definitely help free up the other scorers...Tavares if they stop winning pointless games.

Joensuu looked very good in all the games he's played with the Isles so far. I love his size, and it is something that this tiny team is seriously lacking. Joensuu should get every shot in training camp to make the team next year.

I'm so excited for the Met's season to start today to get Howie Rose out of the broadcast booth. He is one of the worst announcers in the league. Only the Islanders would choose a former Ranger announcer. I'll never forget, "Matteau, Matteau"... if he didn't score that goal we would still be chanting 1940. Hopefully we'll get Jiggs a classy and colorful guy to finish the season.

48% shot at Tavares

100% at Hedman...

Future is bright; much brighter than the Rangers - but it will take time

The kids very impressive. I was surprised he was sent down after his first stint with the Isles last month. He will be a good one in the future. A very good one, sooner than you may think

Another physical, hard working hustling, gritty player in Jesse. Just what this team needs with a roster filled with them.

Where's the high scoring prospect???? All of the draft picks Garth has amassed over the past couple years & not one has been able to be called up & start scoring. And don't give me that "he didn't have a lot of first rounders that are high scoring" garbage. David Krejci in Boston scores a lot & he wasn't a high pick. Neither was Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Martin St. Louis or plenty of other players.

Amassing draft picks is one thing. Picking 1 or 2 that can come in and score is another.

At the beginning of the game the other night Howie said that he was told by Joensuu that the proper pronunciation is YONSUU, NOT Jo-ensuu. SO what does Howie do?He continues to say Jo-ensuu the rest of the evening.

I think you misread this kid. He has good hands and will be an offensive threat. Give him a little time. Your correct that the Isles have amassed cookie cutter type players in the past but things are changing and Jesse is one of those changes. Be patient any you'll see. He's young, big and talented. He'll turn heads in a few years.

I wish I could see life through an Isles fans eyes...

The worst team in hockey, a goalie for a GM,an owner who doesn't even know what hockey is, a building that is falling apart and should be condemned, and a 15 year contract for a goalie with 80 year old knees...

Yet their future is brighter than the Rangers..

interesting.

Yeah, I noticed that too and was annoyed...then I just started laughing at what a dolt Howie is.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Virgo

It's okay to have high expectations, but try to keep in mind that no one can be all things to all people. As the Moon spends one last day in its current sign, it urges you to find a way to recognize others for their strengths, and forgive them their weaknesses. Virgoans' idiosyncrasies must look like strange quirks from the outside as well! Fate ties up the loose ends towards the end of the day.
