Full story: Chicago Tribune

It was hard to tell which team took the United Center ice Sunday with the worst record in the NHL and a goaltender making his first career start.

We can't get any lower than this, can we? Mikko Koivu was right they aren't that good...To think Mark Streit could've came at half the price of you know who and be twice the player...

I think the Hawks chances of keeping home ice for the playoffs is now about 1/3. Vancouver is at home to the Avs tonight, and I don't expect the Canucks to choke away that win. That leaves us two points up.

New Jersey will be fired up Tuesday for Brodeur to break the win record, which doesn't bode well. Then Columbus at home.

Losing to two of the worst teams in the league within a week shows just how bad the Hawks are right now. Unless they turn this around in a hurry, the playoffs aren't a shoe-in.

Every team that sees the Hawks now smells blood in the water.

Was at the game, Islanders goalie was great, too many dumping the puck- On 6 on 3, nobody went in for the kill, just passed and passed- Campbell passed puck to NO ONE- don't look confident aNYMORE!

Sorry but the entire team STUNK today. So don't anyone call out a specific player call they all played horrible. I can't believe that I was there instead of enjoying the beautiful weather. Rocky should make the players pay all of the fans out of their pockets what they spent at the game today. It was disgusting.

They were flat and were not inspired at all. I am sick of hearing about the talking and the we need to get better right now. Someone needs to step it up and take leadership. If they are not careful they will be out of the playoffs.

And by the way they had a 6 on 3 for over 2 minutes and they couldn't score. Bad passing all around and it made me sick to watch.

Another rookie goalie who plays an outstanding game. As usual, you never know when it comes to goaltenders. The kid gets his first win after facing 42 shots. No excuses. The boys got beat. Sure am glad the Hawks had a 9 game winning streak. Hate to think of where they would be without that! In my opinion they are assured a playoff spot and no lower than 6th.

couple observations

Islanders uniforms are brutal in high definition.
Kane now looks like a five year old child with his missing teeth. When he smiled it was hysterical. Whoever thought Kane getting his nose dirty would earn him some respect, never expected this.
And way to go for the kid. Two lousy goals too late.[COLu]
Our team had a ton of chances until the third we just couldnt cash in or the guy with 13 minutes of NHL goaltending experience is incredible.
The trade deadline has killed this team for whatever reason. I think its because Tallon traded a character vet who is servicable for a guy who can only show veteran leadership to Sharp so far.
We couldnt have traded any kind of draft pick for any center so its not Pelettier on the 2nd line?
I wanted Streit last summer and was absolutely thrilled and excited when we got Campbell instead.
Versteeg is fun to watch.
This loss is totally unacceptable.
I predict the number one overall draft pick will go to Toronto. Unless Bettman thinks the island is marketable. I heard their nearly out of business and may move though.

How sad that the sports headlines in the on-line Tribune are all about the pathetic Bulls, meaningless pre-season baseball and college basketball. Professional hockey in Chicago? They've never heard of it.

you are acting like a spoiled brat. 42 shots on goal and you are disgusted? learn to appreciate hockey for being a fun sport and stop whining about nonsense.

Yikes!

A week ago, I was thinking none of the remaining games will matter that much cause we'll cruise into the playoffs with the 4th spot. Well, they matter now!

Let's Go Hawks! Pull your heads out of your Arses!

What a great trade Tallon made at the deadline. It may be too late before Phaulson comes back. Also, we traded the wrong defenseman!
No one mentioned something that was key to both loses over the weekend. Barker took a penalty in each game that resulted in goals, and turned out to be game changing goals. Barker needs to go! We have no D! Keith and Seabrook is all we have. IF we make it into the playoffs, we will not go far...

USMCVet: Don't you know that Pahlsson is our secret weapon come playoff time? I agree if you were going to deal at least get a player that can play NOW...Too late now they have to play with the hand they've been dealt.

Same old story when the puck is in our end nobody is minding the store!! Hockey is the same as any other sport it's defence that wins games. If you are outplayed when the puck is in your own end you can't win. Yes we had 42 shots. Yes we were up against a goalie that just played the game of his life.Yes the Isles only had 19 shots BUT they made the best of their chances when they got the puck in our end. The teams youth, which was one of our best assets is starting to hurt us.We are on a downward spiral and we don't have a seasoned veteran to stabilise the young guys and get them back on track. I know it is too late to solve it for this year but we need a Gary Roberts type guy to provide that kind of a presence. Just a few onbsevations from an old hockey fan.

Speaking of thinning the herd, this is the kind of thing that strains the wagon-jumpers from the constant and consistant fan.

Yeh, yeh, they lost to another team they should've creamed, but this is what happens when you get to the top of something. You're the measure of every other team; they beat you, therefore, they're not as bad as you think. Manino's family and friends were there to see him shut out the Blackhawks. Do you think that they think the Hawks took it easy on him? No, of course not. There would be no fun in hockey if it weren't for victories like that.

I just would like to start that for Pelletier or Skille or ??

I STILL SAY THE KIDS AND "Q" WILL GET IT DONE!

That's right me and anyone else that actually watched the game and thought it was crap is a spoiled brat. Look if you had a tenth of the hockey knowledge of me and the other regulars on this post you would know that just cause it is a shot on goal doesn't mean that it was a quality shot. You hide behind a silly name and try to call me out, well to me you are a pimple on a elephants rear. How many games have you went to this year? Probably none cause by the sounds of it you have absolutely no hockey knowledge.

I have to say Marty showed up,I did not believe that would happen but he wants to go to the pay window. This team has gotten a warm and fuzzy feeling since the trade deadline like we are all safe now.I hope they enjoy a free fall that might equal the 69 Cubs.

I go to two games this weekend, and they both were the worst games I've seen the Hawks play this year....I think I'll watch the rest from the comfort of my home.

Couple things I've noticed. Campbell's play has gone from bad to worse....he needs to sit a game, get his head on straight.

That 6-3 was absolutely sickening.....too much perimeter passing and then they would just lose it into the neutral zone....EVERYONE in the building was yelling at our boys to just shoot the dang puck. When you have a 3 man advantage....THROW IT AT THE NET AND OVERLOAD FOR A REBOUND!!!!

I've had the feeling the last few games that the flat starts are more from being tight rather than uninspired. They're not converting scoring chances they made earlier in the year, and the D is dreadful. Mediocre goaltending hasn't helped.

I'm not one of those who believed the Hawks had any chance at the Cup this year, but I did think they could win a series, and maybe two with a good amount of luck and a hot goalie.

As they're playing the last 2+ weeks, they won't last past game 5 of the first series.

Unless they turn this around NOW, they'll be in 6th spot by next Sunday.
