The Islanders have an "Us against the NHL" mentality, and it surfaced again in their Game 3 loss to Buffalo when coach Ted Nolan compared a video replay call that went against his team to one earlier this ...

Will someone please send the footage from Versus network to the Islanders. It SHOWS the puck crossing the line?!? It was clear to me and the Versus announcers after we SAW THE PUCK GO ACROSS THE GOAL LINE!!!

Yes, bad calls were made but generally, each team suffers equally from bad calls by the end of a series. But the calls that resulted in the 5 on 3 were good calls.

Why is it the NHL does not explain why the goal was awarded? The NHL is becoming like the Bush Administration, any time their is a controversy that does not effect their intrests (think Rag$ and Chris Simon) they become mute. Over 16,000 fans were so annoyed at the officiating, one would think the NHL would say something. But alas they would never say they were wrong, they believe that silence is the better solution. It is not. They allowed women to be beaten on ice (again Rag$ need to be in the playoffs, has anyone seen one call go for Atlanta?) and now game 3 was determined by the NHL because they need the number1 team that fits the new "NHL" to win. My score for game 3 is Isles 2 Sabers 1 can the NHL explain why it is not? It is so bad that the NHL even controls what the nationally televised commentators say. Welcome to the new Facist NHL!

Ted Nolan should get a fine for his comments about his fans throwing bottles at the ice area. His statement condols their irresponsible actions. All fans, including small children could have been injured for life by broken glass or killed by these projectiles. Why are bottles allowed anyway,it would be wiser to serve them their beverage in plastic cups. End of problem.

After the display last game, maybe sippy cups are more appropriate.

Cry baby. I guess you dont recall Game 2 when Buffalo was called for a penalty, and the Isles scored the game winning goal. Horrible call. Overall the officiating has been bad.

And what about Chris Simon ? And what about Atlanta not getting any calls ? Do you watch hockey ? Did you see Shanny get a goalie interference yesterday when he was pushed into the net ?
Honestly, its not ever worth arguing.

Hey buddy, re-read what Nolan said before judging. He said he would throw something on the ice too if it was not for the fine he would get, but then he goes on to say that he does not condone the fans throwing things on the ice. Just because someone would love to do something, does not mean they should get penalized for it.

Know your facts before you post!

1. I think the NHL was clear on their explanation on lumberjack Simon. It's just idiots like you who don't seem to get the severity of what he did. I think if he did it to anyone else but a player on the Rangers, you would accept it -- ummm, maybe not.

2. The only women being beaten on Coliseum Ice was your beloved team, led by their whining coach.(Sorry, women)

3. Yup, they let the Rangers in the playoffs by penalizing them more than the other team in just about every game, figuring the way to help the Rangers in was to have them score shorthanded, as it clearly counts double.

4. Oh, and they were clearly at fault, giving the Rangers 7 goals last night. When the Rangers were up 3-0 going into second, there were about 4 ticky-tack calls (less than what Robitaille did) that were called against the Rangers -- another clear effort to help the Rangers.

5. The NHL told me the reason why the score was NOT 2-1 Isles is that the "Sabres" actually scored THREE goals, making the score 3-2. Hope that helps.

I am obviously an Isles fan and did see the replay from Versus and it did show the puck behind the goal line. It was not clear on the replays, but when they showed the versus view of it zoomed it, it was in. I just dont know what the timing was with it going in and the blowing of the whistle.

Go Isles!!

Sure, the officiating went Buffalo's way in Game 3, which could've given us the game, but we definitely got hosed in Game 2: Max Afinogenov touches Miro Satan with his stick, Satan looks at the ref with his arms up, gets a penalty called on Buffalo, which results in the game-winning power play goal.

It all evens out...

Havent you farmers ever heard of plastic bottles. Trust me they weren't going to kill anyone, and they most certainly not glass stupid. They don't even allow you to have caps for the bottle, so they were all pretty much empty to by the time they landed anywhere.

We are clearly playing against 2 opponents:

NY Islanders vs. The NHL's Horrible Officiating & oh yeah The President's Trophy Winner Buffalo Sabres.

Can this get any more uphill? All we want is a level playing field. If I were on Islander management I would DEMAND a conclusive still frame of the Puck Over the Goal Line....& don't forget the season changing goal by Thomas Vanek which would have put US in 6th place by season end, NOT 8th. There WAS a conclusive still frame on that goal which was disallowed. Clearly, when Lundqvist swiped the puck out of the net, it popped up on end and that was the exact frame where you could see white in front of the puck, passed the goal line. Yet they called it no GOAL in a 4 point situation vs. the Rangers. I WANT SOMEONES HEAD TO ROLL FOR THIS!! BOMB CANADA!!

A call with 8mins in tie game does not equal out against a call with 1:34 left when you are down by one and pressuring in the offensive zone. How you fools don't realize this, is ponderous. You had plenty of time to tie it back up, you didn't. The Isles were robbed of any legit shot of tying it up with the extra attacker.

Guy, the video is on the VS website. There is not a single frame of video that show the enitre puck across the goaline. You see the puck on the line, you see the puck disappear from view, then you see the puck again, on the line. Please prove me wrong by providing a link to a still, or a video that actually shows the puck entirely over the goaline, but still in view. Because this is the only evidence that, by rule, can overturn a no goal call.

I watched the reply on Versus.com - there was not enough evidence to overrule the call on the ice. Whether it was in or not is not the standard. The league can not assume that it was in. There must be no doubt. You can not see white between the goal line and the puck. end of story. If that was the correct call then the call against the rangers was wrong. That call would have had the isles playing the crappy thrashers. Either way I think the NHL owes the isles more than an apology. The league can's be correct on both calls. The problem is that these calls are made from the Toronto office. There is no logical reason for someone from that office not being fired. There is no interpretation, it is a straight line standard. This can not change based on what team is playing. Any hockey fan should agree - no one wants inconsistent calls, like there has been this year.

Has anyone had to listen to this series on the Sabres feed?? Absoulutly THE WORST commentators i have ever heard. The most biased ive ever heard...pathetic. Also what about Linda Ruff, saying the Isles DELIBERATLEY hit Miller twice in the head in the first.. Yea thats it Linda, we want to waste shots on goal just so we can hit your skinny goalie in the head..unbelievable!

Johnny-boy, a penalty is a penalty regardless of when its called. Hey, I understand what you're saying..but still Robatille tripped the buffalo player, and thus a tripping penalty.

To Johnnyislander and Peter, if you actually knew the rules of hockey then you would realize how ridiculous you sound. As long as any part of the puck crosses the goal line it is a goal. End of all your complaining. As for the Islanders complaints about unfair calls, this is the NHL Playoffs, strap on a sack and play.
