Danis strong in goal but Isles lose to Pens, 1-0

Full story: Newsday

For 150 minutes and six seconds, Islanders goaltender Yann Danis was perfect. He hadn't given up a goal since a long shot by the Rangers' Scott Gomez bounced between his legs a week earlier.

All Im saying is KO! He leaves it on the ice night after night. He is getting in tune with his star player.

Hillan- this guy is showing he can play...

Danis-if keep this type of play up-Joey Mac is out of luck.

Frans and Bergy seem to be playing better together on the same line.

Here's another thing I don't get: Hillen showed he could play from his very first shift at the end of last season -- at MSG, no less. So why did he start the year in the minors? Why didn't the Isles, with an abundance of D-men, trade one for a scorer, or, better yet for the Isles' way of thinking, a 2011 second-round draft pick?

McDonald/Danis- Gordon has a bit of a problem here. The way Danis is playing right now,If Gordon plays Danis it looks like the team is being competitive and trying to win and if he does win we move up in the standings depending on how Atlanta plays ,however if he plays McDonald , almost guaranteed to lose,it's going to look like Gordon is trying to tank the rest of the season to get the first pick. Hmmm such a quandary. And yes, Doc OK looks better every game. He reminds me of Greg Gilbert without the toughness which hoefully will come eventually.

If the Rangers and Isles combine teams, maybe they'd be able to score.

Maybe because he played in a different system last year...

there was nothing wrong with sending a guy like Hillen down to the AHL to get more ice time to fine tune his game.

Once again, why we need to draft Tavares instead of Hedmen. We need someone who can turn into a proven goal scorer because the free agent signing thing isn't working right now. We can't rely just on Okposo. Losing was another step in that direction.

Mike Bossy adjusted pretty quickly to Arbour's system, hardly his own.(True, Arbour was smart enough to allow some leeway.) Hillen is talented. As with any talented player, you tell him what you want, he does it.(Helen Mirren once said any good director only has to tell you one of four things: faster, slower, more, less. Hockey must be similar: think D, think O, pass more, shoot more.)

Love the analogy.

I just think they were giving those who earned their ice time a chance-guys like Campoli...Gervais...Meyer.
I wasnt sold on Hillen at first but the last two games-he showing promise. It makes the Campoli trade even look better.

As for last night; Okposo left it in the locker room, Bailey was of no impact whatsoever,Nielsen was nowhere to be seen, Bergenheim couldn't score on my grandmother, and she's dead, and Tambellini, well, he was Tambellini. As for defense, is Sutton in their plans for next season? Freddy Meyer?

I thought you were a big DP fan! You don't come back from hip surgery 100%, and there is less chance if you've had it twice, once on each hip. Danis played great last night, but we need real no. 1 goalie. Now the Rangers have the coach the Islanders should have had.
