This was the first game in a while when the Rangers had a 1 goal lead and I did not feel nervous. The Rangers held on to the puck for most of the third and managed to kill of penalties and not let in any shorthanded goals. Okposo and lots of the young Islanders did look pretty good. They also got great goaltending from Yann Danis (except for the Gomez goal) considering the Isles swiss cheese defense.

Yeah. Bergenheim almost held his own with 165 pound Peter Prucha.

How nice of Bergenheim to grab a much smaller player from behind, put him in a headlock, rip off Prucha's helmet..... and then decide to fight with his visor on !!!!

Batttfit wrote "Not bad for being on one knee..." Seems to me Bergenheim came back and played the rest of the game just fine. Next time, let him try on Colton Orr.

Nothing like a game against the Isles to break a losing streak and get some confidence back

Yep, get ready to lift the cup ranger fans. Yep, you won it says so in the won/lost column. You beat a back up to a back up goaltender and your "All Star" "Gold medal" winning worlds greatest goaltender held the last place, lowest scoring team in the league to 1 goal. Start stockpiling the confetti. You should be embarrassed. I guess my TV isn't working right. There seemed to be a hell of a lot of empty seats at the always sold out garden.

Have faith fellow Islander fans!
We're only 7 points out of 29th place.
If we had Tavares and 2 or 3 more #1 overall picks we might squeeze into the playoffs by 2014. Just enough time to pack and learn one's way around Kansas City.

I am still of the thinking that Bergenheim, effective as he may be in certain situations -- and shouldn't he be used on the penalty kill the same way Anders was?-- will never be a scorer, never hit 20. Tambellini, on the other hand, I really do see being a JP Dumont-type player, bagging 25-35 for the next 10 or so years. He needs a Nystrom to play with, speaking of which, as much as I admire him, there is no reason the Islanders whouldn't be able to draft someone like him with a third- or fourth-rounder, overtime goals not included.

Once again, the Isles outplayed the rags, but lack the talent to score any goals or play any solid defense.
still, they hustled and played hard.
I can't believe with all the rags talent, and resources they barely beat a last place team.
gomez's goal was lucky-but it still counts.
beware: rags hangover tonight vs Car.
see you on March 5th...
