1.Clarke's public tirade naming specific players was unprofessional(wh/he is)and a reflection of his and Hitchcock's management abilities.
2.I can partially agree w/him on some of those mentioned, particularly Nedved, Dimitrakos, and Jones; but Meyer?? He may not have played 100% perfect every minute on the ice, but I watched the same games that Clarke did (w/both eyes open)and there is no way in hell, Meyer warranted such treatment from the GM. I've seen it written that Clarke may have been using this tirade as a "motivational tactic", and also to deflect pressure away from him and Hitchcock. Whatever the reason (if there even is one), I think it was a negative, confidence destroying, act; especially for those on the team that have been giving 100% and to developing a cohesive , productive TEAM.
3. What would I have done ,being understandingly p-o'd and frustrated by the pre-season? I would have called in those specifically named players to my office and had a GM-to-Player, man-to-man, lay-it on -the-line 'talk'. That is what professional managers in large and small companies do with employees they have hired that they feel are not pulling their weight, but still feel that the person can become a major asset to the company (after all , that's why you hired them to begin with). You lay out your specific complaints, ascertain whether the player agrees or disagrees, give him a goal/ultimatum/reward proposition, make sure he buys into it and that you are on the same page, and then you monitor the results and take action s as per the proposition. This is a BUSINESS ! Winning is a BUSINESS ! Expecting a former very good hockey player w/little ,if any, professional business training to be an excellent , WINNING, BUSINESS manager is expecting a lot. Not that it can't be done, but..........

I cannot believe Bobby Clarke saying he is obviously unhappy with these guys, at least in regards to Niko. How does he figure 2 games is enough to show what Niko can do. Hey, Niko, keep on going, you can play in this league, if you get the chance!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Gemini

Beware of taking on too much because it will be an effort to get through it all. You might even have to give up the unequal struggle, which won't do much for your ego or your reputation. Be especially careful about this if you're at work because a certain person may try to take advantage of what they see as your weakness or failure to deliver the goods.
