Oh boy. We have Ronald McDonald as our goaltender. Sure could use Mr. Dubie now. And did you see Okposo ? He choked big time on that penalty shot. Let's face it. Gordo's "system" is not working. We will finish last.

First game and already we stink...you guys know sh*t...PK was strong, D good, checking good, goalie kept them in the game, but no offense. Park scores instead of crossbar and its a different story. But I agree Okposo must live up to the grandstanding on him. Hey it was a 2 to 1 lose, not 5 to 1 or 8 to zip. So Super Islander Fan, where do we stink. Let's see tonight...

Not surprising, considering the Isles are playing at a minor league level, and most likely will be for the whole season. GO RANGERS!!!

You must admit, the team did not show any heart. If they lose again tonight (which I fear they will), we need a new coach, plain and simple!

Ok everyone knows I am a rangers fan...but why say you guys stink after one game. You scored a power play goal, which is more to say then last season, and you lost to a team that was in the playoffs last year and has actually improved.

Of course, another season with DP missing an important game, what else is new.

Stop putting so much pressure on Okposo, the only people convinced he was supposed to be some star was isles management, and they just promoted him like that to give some glimmer of hope to a dying fanbase. He is predicted to be a solid player, thats it.

I'm an Islander fan. But look how this organization is treating the fans.

15 million below the salary cap and still one of the higher priced tickets in the NHL.

And how is Uncle Charlie Chan going to fix things? By builing condos and a shopping mall..with our tax dollars. Dumb SARS spreading asain and ur here kissing his old pimpled egg roll rear end? Fools!

C'mon Isles fans how efen dumb are you? How much more can you take?

I know it's the first game, but if this is Gordon's style we're in for a long dark winter. McDonald looked real good, but we missed Comeau's spirit and drive. If Okposo is the future, we're in for a long dark decade. He stunk! Bergenheim, Tambellini, and Nielsen were no where to be found. Not many true scoring chances. After the first period, didn't even have to resurface the Devils' end of the ice.

Time for another "Al Arbour" night! You know, where he sleeps behind the bench, and gets credited for the win. Oops, a little fly in the ointment. They're not winning.

Its really unfair to single out Okposo, last year Comeau,Park and Okposo were the best line the Islanders had, but our great GM and his puppet coach, sit out Comeau and play Okposo on the 4th line with Bergenheim and Thompson, 2 grinders. This system is not for this team. Where is the youth movement, Tambellini,Neilsen. Looks like the only smart person was Nolan who saw the writing on the wall and got out why the getting out was good. No speed, not much skill, too many players over 30 and a coach who Boston Bruins passed on for 4 coaching changes in the last 5 years. He is Snows puppet and thats all, did he think he was going to reinvent hockey with the system he was beating AHL teams with , nice try.Long tough year with no future upside

Couple of points: not to be critical -- really -- but what was Okposo thinking on that penalty shot. Arguably the greatest goaltender of all time is showing him space above his glove hand -- and Okposo goes for it? Ridiculous. If ever a situation called for a feint, then pulling the puck to the backhand that was it. And the Isles scored on a fluke goal -- big surprise there. It's almost gotten to the point where the Isles HAVE to go for fluke goals -- aim at a defenseman's pad, shoot the puck off the glass and hope for the best. And Snow has got to bite the bullet, and offer one of the young D-men, probably Gervais, and the Isles #1 pick next year to a solid if aging team with plenty of quality scorers looking to grab Lightning in a bottle, that would be next year's Stamkos, whatever his name is.(And, oh yeah: Tambellini showed nothing.)

When it was all on the line, Okposo let us down. We are in last place. And we will never, ever be anywhere other than last place the entire season. I have been a devoted Islander fan for 75 years. But I have been such a fool! I now see the light and root for a real team, The Columbus Yellow Jackets.
